I don't know about the styles you're trying out, but this one looks soft as well, maybe with some more contrast/brightness than the previous ones?

Wow! Uh, thanks. XD To be honest I fiddled a LOT with the coloring before I got something I liked... partially. I recommend pasting pictures you like into your art program and doing an eye drop study of the colors. How saturated are they? What is the value? Where do they fall on the color wheel and the picture? There's a lot of tutorials out there too. ^^

I'll keep practicing! I'm still getting used to my art program. A lot of artists I like are using paint tool sai right now, but I'm using artrage 3. I'm still learning how to do everthing with it!

Regardless, if you learn a program that has good enough brushes and work on it, you can create awesome work anywhere. I know somebody who used a free paint tool GIMP to create awesome digital paintings.
