Description
David Baerwald is one of the greatest songwriters and lyricists in popular music. While he's had fame in the 80s with his original band David and David, and written hits for folks like Sheryl Crow, but his solo records are quite the gems, especially the utterly underrated Triage.It's a dark, claustrophobic, strange, brilliant work, and I had intended to make a series based on the bulk of the album, but never got pat this initial spec idea using a chunk of lyrics from the leadoff track, "Secret Silken World". It's messy and rough, but I wanted to make a poster of it for my home.

It starts as painting with brayers on a page of old atlas, then stencilling lyrics onto the page using pencil, coloring them in with water soluable colored pencil and copic markers, then adding more paint, then scanning it in and mangling it digitally.

I have, for years. I just never get around to explaining the often random steps I take to get to a result.
