Description
My current wallpaper, of my seven deadly sin 'sloth' submission. I kinda like it and I know that I always receive requests for my work as wallpapers. If nothing else its interesting to show the detail in the work that gets lost when I save it down to such a small size.

First thing that struck me about Sloth was the figure-ground contrast; everything around its body is blue, wintry, ashen and seemingly ancient; comparatively devoid of light and life. Yet this same backdrop is crystalline, earthy; solid and somehow more natural than Sloth here. Sloth's childlike, semi-solid form gazes burningly at the audience with all the inevitable simplicity of a dead star...some primordial, far older force, like a hungry ghost half-granted a miserable mollusk physiology. "Demon" seems too pale a word, lest it refers to a paradoxical force of laziness that predates human consciousness
What resolution do you like to render at? I just got back into high-res Wacom detailing...I absolutely love the textural detail you put into your works, especially evident here in Sloth's clearly snail-skinned, semitransparent flesh. Makes me wanna pick him up and poke him O.o;; except for fear of being drawn into his black-hole-esque expression. Mollusks are interesting, ancient creatures...they don't seem to have evolved quite a lot - physically or intellectually - over the millenia, hm?
The incredibly fiery, stellar expression visually reminds me of...grr, forgetting name - it's whatever kind of stellar occurence with a black interior surrounded by swirling clouds of debris because of its nature as a post-supernovaed gravity well. A black dwarf, I think, not yet a black hole. If even by accident its eyes resemble a red dwarf, that would be rather interesting, because per estimate of stellar age sequences, red dwarfs are among the youngest and least active stars out there, and by these 'virtues' also extremely long-lived...

Interesting... I've never seen Sloth depicted as a slug before... generally just very grey and covered in cobwebs...
