Description Another of my demon types. This is a Baht'Azule.
Baht'Azule and Dro'kka demons (c) Zith, aka Me.
"Borrow" and bad things will befall you, so please don't do it without permission.

“In the name of the Snake Mother we serve,
By her wisdom, we prosper,
With her protection, we thrive.
In the name of the Snake Mother we hunt,
By her teachings, we are swift,
With her cunning, we are unstoppable.
In the name of the Snake Mother we kill,
By her strength, we are strong,
With her poison, we are deadly.
In the name of the Snake Mother we are,
Assassins.”
The Baht’Azule are a “pure” race of demons descended from a particular line of Dro’kka demons. For over a thousand years, the Baht’Azule have bred in secrecy, only keeping those children with the “pure” genes - Dark purple-black skin, snow white hair and tails, and blood red eyes. Any children born with anything other than their version of perfection, for example, pale skin, or blue eyes, were sacrificed to the Snake Mother. This usually entailed a long winded ritual, where the babe’s still-beating heart was carved from it’s chest at the end.
In recent times, though, the Baht’Azule have become slightly….tolerant. Some mothers decide that they do not wish to sacrifice their children, if they are not born perfectly. If the mother so chooses, it is allowed, but the child is always treated differently in society. These “imperfect” children are never allowed to breed with a “pure” Baht’Azule, and the breeding amongst themselves is severely limited. At a young age, about 80% of these “imperfect” children are selected in a lottery system, where they are then sterilized by way of magic. These children, upon reaching adulthood, can function sexually as normal, but no live children will be born. Miscarriages and stillbirths are highly possible, but for the most part, the female can never become pregnant.
When a mother chooses not to sacrifice her child, something else must be sacrificed in it’s steed, to appease the Snake Mother. The only suitable substitute is another demon species captured for just such an occasion. Zen demons are prime targets for these sacrifices.
Children born to the Baht’Azule spend the first 5 years exclusively with their mothers. Very rarely will these children have contact with their fathers; most oft times the mothers were never even sure who the father was. Inbreeding was common, as this race believes that all “pure” males should father as many “pure” children as they can, during their prime sexual years. Again, recently this has been less of a giant polygamous orgy amongst these demons, and more… a slow planting.
After the children reach their 5th years, their mothers bring them to “school.” Here, the children are housed for the next thirty years of their lives, seeing their parents very rarely. While in school, the children are taught about their society, and their deity the Snake Mother. The Snake Mother’s Mantra is ingrained in their very essence from a young age. These children are also taught how to fight; and most importantly, how to kill quickly. The young Baht’Azule are trained in making poisons, and also are taught to build up a resistance to common poisons used by other demon species.
To complete their schooling and graduate, at the end of the 30 years of training, each young Baht’Azule must create their own unique poison as well as an antidote. They must prove the effectiveness of the poison and the antidote, and that they can reproduce the exact same poison each time it is made, without a recipe at hand.
Once the student accomplishes this (and passes numerous other tests - fighting, stealthy killing, stamina, poison-resistance, etc etc.) they are allowed to graduate. When a student graduates, their tail is notched, to look like a double bladed arrow, and the tip is fitted with a cap make from the finest and strongest of metals, and concealing a needle sharp shard of hollow diamond. This hollow tip if filled with the Baht’Azule’s poison, and used to inject the poison into the target. A Baht’Azule with this cap and with a notched tail is awarded the highest honor by other Baht’Azule. These demons are official Assassins of the Snake Mother.
There are some children that do not complete their schooling and become Assassins. These receive a notched tail, but only one notch on one side of the tail. They do not receive the special tail cap either. These Baht’Azule tend to leave the school after the first 10 years, and take up other trades.

Snaaaakie!!! <3 This character's pretty neat looking, and I really like the little prayer(?) about the Snake Mother~ So do most children complete that special training and graduate or do more end up taking up other trades? *hope I'm not being too nosey*

Yes, it's a prayer ^_^; No, actually, a large percentage of children take up other trades. I haven't quite worked out all the details. I'm creating 4 species of demons at once, and I tend to confuse my ideas..... Nah, not being too nosey at all! I'm going to post character/species sheets at some point; once I take the time to take all my scribbled notes from work and turn them into something that makes sense to someone other than just me.
