DOOMSDAY Vs Superman

Well here it goes... back in 1992 DC Comics made up it's mind to kill Superman off. This came due to the fact that people did not appreciate Superman anymore. It was much better to be of questionable morally than clean cut do gooder like Superman. There where other factors as well like ABC having the tv rights to a Superman TV show. ABC was planing a show more about Lois and Clark. At the time DC comics was planning the wedding of Lois and Clark but had to postpone their plans and a whole year of stories. So what happen next only the most unthinkable. They killed him off... but how can you kill the man of steel, the man of tomorrow, the last son of krypton. Where so many have tried and not come close. They where going to need a monster to do the job.

DOOMSDAY... is what they came up with. It turn into a slug fest... DOOMSDAY took on almost all the DCU and could not be stopped. This was a real last stand... November 18, 1992 Superman #75 marked the end for the man of steel. At the time I was 16 and I couldn't believe what I was reading, When the last page was turn I was left without a hero. Both DOOMSDAY and Superman had their last dance, knocking each other in one last blow. A monster and hero lie side by side, only to have the world go on without him, This story went on to be the biggest event. People who didn't read comics where buying every copy they could find, People where outrage that this happen how can you kill Superman, of coruse he came back almost 3 years later. He was return... and everyone was happy once again. After the whole Death of Superman event pass many new readers and old return for more each month. The character of Superman is much loved around the world go anywhere and show them a picture of Superman and you will mosty like hear his name. If one thing we learned from the Death of Superman is the world needs heroes like him to show the way. To those that have lost their way. That anyone can make something of themselves and all you have to do is believe.
