The main thing I need to know for these "accounts" is the tech level of Kygorian explorers. I saw the word "exosuit", but one could have exosuits while still having mere projectile weapon tech. Also, to avoid oxygen poisoning, you could just breathe proportionally slower. It's not that much of a difference.

I picture a level of technology a bit above that of the humans in Avatar, but not nearly as advanced as Star Trek or Star Wars.  My entry on the Saurocene  gives a brief explanation.  Essentially, the most advanced technology is ability to project a tachyon wormhole that can be manipulated to travel to distant places or even alternate universes; however, this is relatively new tech and is tightly controlled by governmental agencies, plus it's expensive.  Exosuits are simply more streamlined and more durable versions of todays space suits.  Projectile weapons are still the armament of choice, though sound and energy based weapons are also becoming available.  This inspires me to make post on the subject where I will go into more detail!

Also, I think the masks (similar to Avatar) are still necessary since the veins in your eyes would be vulnerable and it's rather difficult to consciously slow ones breathing while trying to do work.  Death without a mask would not be instantaneous though, you'd have at least a few minutes.

hmmm alternate universes..... And the thanks for the info on tech! Seems interesting (I'm actually getting a mental picture of Colonel Quaritch beating the shit out of a Staglizard.... or is it the other way round?)

Dude... so cool! (And great dialogue, too; I love using dialogue in my stories) I'd love to help by doing some "eyewitness accounts", but I understand if you want this to be totally yours. ;D

Thanks!  So long as you stick to the canon creatures of the world, you're more than welcome to create some eyewitness accounts, I'm very curious to see what you'll come up with!

YAAAAY!! I do a lot of dialogue-based writing, in the present tense, so expect that sort of style. This will be exciting!

With over 1,000 known exoplanets out there (some are very earthlike), I bet this is a real planet. What are the chances?

Probably pretty good, let's keep our fingers crossed!

I wasn't able to find any Sunlike stars that are directly in line with the Sun and Horsehead Nebula, but I did find this star (TYC 144-2114-1). No known planets yet:

Interesting.  Admittedly I'm not sure what a lot of that data means though.

For FK4, FK5, and ICRS, the 1st number is the right ascension (longitude of the star); the second, the declination (how far the star is from the celestial equator). This will tell you what each number means:

Agreed! I can't believe I haven't discovered this earlier. It needs to be seen.
