An artist is never truly satisfied by their own work.....

As Leonardo Da Vinci proved, a great artist never completes a painting, he merely abandons it.

He rarely completed anything. Yet he is considered one of the best of the renaissance painters.

Mozart has several unfinished symphonies, Keats has a few unfinished poems. Its part of being an artist.

so true... I never think one of my drawings is finished... it can be finished for the moment, but I can always say I am going to change it or make it more detailed... even if it is just a week later ...

I have about 8 "works in progress", but I'll probably never get round to finishing them.

I just can't think how to continue them. Its like writers block, but its just those peices that are affected.

o I know... I have that with drawings all the time... it is like there is a wall or something so you just can't find a way to finish them...

NIce line work. I like the detail on the leaves (or flourishes, or whatever they may be) The detail on the branch and the bird is also rather nice. I think it would make for a good get-well-soon card (but thats just my opinion ) If you were to color it, I think subdued watercolor washes in contrasting warm and cool shades would work nicely (warm for bird, cool for background) but again, thats just my suggestion. Overall, I like it.

zulou In reply to Heartflyer [2009-08-09 11:11:27 +0000 UTC]

don't know actually I am thinking about it but I don't know it might harm the drawing

I get that feeling a lot, can't you just color it on the computer, like as a test. I usually do that rather than color the original piece unless I really want to.

zulou In reply to Heartflyer [2009-08-09 16:02:04 +0000 UTC]

that is the only thing I do ... I am used to not coloring the original at all ^^
only watercolor and other paintings are done on the original ^^
