#034 Kingouse
Big Rodent Poke'mon

Poke'dex:
Kingouse is a large rodent poke'mon, evolving from the docile Mowince. Kingouse lives in cold plains as its wild habitat. It is said that Mowince when matured reach an age when they search for a valuable cloak to don, shielding them from the cold. Although a warm blooded nature, when Mowince reaches the point when it is close to evolving into a Kingouse, they desire colder and more damp areas, however attain a desire of vanity and must obtain a Fancy Cloak in order to evolve once Mowince has reached level 24 in growth.

Now a more sophisticated poke'mon, Kingouse are a show poke'mon who constantly strive for an air of elegance and near royalty. When more than one Kingouse are together they often battle and contest each other seeking to prove dominance. The males tend to lean towards a battle prowess while female Kingouse tend to flair their beauty and tricks, performing for onlookers. It is only when two Kingouse are very evely matched that they will resort to physically knocking the opponent out, and as such their battle skills are finely honed with many hours of daily practice.

If a trainer is going to add Kingouse to their team, they must be prepared to put in hours of work each day, as Kingouse are rarely content simply staying in their poke'ball, and take to walking with their trainer as to say "I am my master's prize poke'mon."

Kingouse's signature attacks include "Super Fang", "Defense Curl", "Screech" and "Fury Swipes". The more graceful and evolves Kingouse will later learn "Agility" increasing speed and performance, and the move every Kingouse trainer hopes to learn, "Cloak Claw" in which Kingouse dissapears and hides for a turn, appearing behind or in the blind spot of its opponent, reappearing to attack with its claw in the flash of its cloak.

Kingouse was based in design off of what pops in my head when I think of the Rat King from the Nutcracker story. A dark, near dirty rat in color, draped in fine robes and cloaks and a crown, demanding attention with a strong prescence.

I wanted to make the personality of Kingouse more poke'mon however than the fabled Rat King, and as such added the story elements of how its appearance ties into its wild life and evolved maturity. I can picture in my mind how rival Kingouse would act in another's prescence, and as such tied this in with its royal feel and vanity, adding an element of increased difficulty in training.
