"Eclipse is something that should be temporary and scary people ..."And an eternal eclipse means dark times , and extinction as we know .
Btw , all that is happening now remembers me of that fiasco with Blizzard informing their loyal pc customers that from now on , just mobile games . (Do you guys not have phones.....)
DA is basically doing the same .
Giving the finger to all the people that brought them here , and embracing the cell phone generation ( that dont have money or attention spam )
So ,Β the Sun will vanish soon ...see you in the dark ....

As for blizzard...
They said they have a main-line, PC Diablo game in the works. They just made the intensely stupid call to mention the mobile game first, and defend it vehemently.Β
That being said, it shouldn't exist in the first place, in the specific way it's being copied- i mean made, and I wish Blizzard would cut ties with all their toxic influencing partners. But we all know money talks too much and that won't happen. :/ Just look at how heavily they've monetized and exclusivised Starcraft content, even if it's just cosmetic stuff. The only thing I don't hate is the $8 voice packs, because they're actually worth that much. But disappearing content after a short event ends? What is this, Overwatch? Wait...

Man, to think I abandoned dA for years, wanted to return now and I see this Eclipse fiasco... I think I made the right choice.
The staff stopped caring about the artists a long time ago. Let's not forget they never stopped banning us or deleting our art arbitrarily either.

Updates are supposed to improve NOT complicate.
If there's going to be changes by streamlining this. It should be easier to use, not harder. It too me a while to figure out that notifications for journals, deviations and polls are on the left side of the top menu. Plus, I can't find the birthdays of the people I'm watching while I'm on Eclipse

Funny enough, I already did from the very beginning when I heard the news that EclipseΒ going to be permanent. I sent how the birthday notifications are no longer there in Eclipse

I also miss the number of deviations the old layout has. How many replies/comments/faves, how many journals/polls/status, and how many artwork itself.

I can't help but feel that Eclipse is someone's personal vanity project and they can't accept that no one actually likes it, so they've opted to give us NO CHOICE in the matter whatsoever so that we HAVE to use their precious new site format or else leave for greener pastures...It sucks. I may not run a business here or anything but I LOVE DA the way it is, have been part of the site for years, since my schooldays no less, and I can't imagine leaving this community behind...But I REALLY hate the new site, its just so user unfriendly, not sure if I want to keep paying for my core membership if that is what I'm gonna have to put up with from now on, and of course, there's also the little matter of how they pulled this crap in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, perhaps the worst possible time to force an unwanted, unnecessary change on your customers...Seems a tad tone-deaf to me, we have so much else to be stressed out about right now, why did they feel the need to add even MORE fuel to the fire?

The mobile optimization does not make sense for a site like this, because what percentage of people use their mobile phones to do art, compared to PCs? That is my immoveable position on this mess. Maybe some day, but it's far too soon to piss write off PC users when art is concerned.
Some days Eclipse makes me think the powers that be around here are happy with the amount of content they have and are just going to try to get pageclicks instead of new content. =.= I guess we'll see soon enough.
