Description Earth-currents VII
Pencil on Illustration board 12” x 12”

This type of drawing does not have the initial impact as some of my portraits or surreal work but they are very important in that they show what people miss and don’t see. Personally they act as a buffer between works or as in this case a diversion while working on a major piece that’s overwhelming like my current wip (stripped).

This is part of a sires of works called “observing the insignificant” it’s more about natural abstraction then drawing nature in a botanical sense, although it is very carefully observed and rendered. An artist has the ability to engage someone with an image that they would normal not see and just walk by it, like this three inch piece of turf underfoot. Every day people walk by this insignificant scene, never noticing, never looking, at some point I did. As in abstraction its all about composition, the movement of the individual parts is what draws my interest. Subject matter is abundant if you can truly see the world around you.

There is something in this photo - don't know what exactly it is - that makes me think of nature and that there is so much more beauty out there, than we notice most of the time. Nice drawing!

There's grace and beauty in the littlest things, isn't there? More people should take the opportunity to stop and watch leaves blow in the wind.

your statement made it for me.. i definately like that concept.. especially how u are able to have so much patience in bringing this insignificant image into something beyond high art where it deserves to be recognised and appreciated

Very Albrecht Durer of you I always liked his watercolors of weeds and grasses. This reminds me of them. Extraordinary, per usual

Armin, this series is a beautiful tribute to the natural loveliness of simplistic views. While I have always loved minute details and noticing the insignificant, our friendship has shown me to enjoy it even more. Seeing your work, talking to you, has certainly broadened my love for these things.

This is beautiful, Armin!

I hope you are doing well. Hugs to you and Val!

Thank you April, when drawing a work like Blues for Mama the concept is paramount and continuously part of the process and it can be draining to say the least. In this drawing After you come up with an interesting composition you draw and let your mind just. flow...its rather liberating.

Yes, I can see how it would be that way....

I'm following your advice on the phone. Some small projects sound like a much needed relief, and it will help build my portfolio like you said.

I like that you think to draw it when others wouldn't. I'm not sure if it's just the scan, but I wish the drawing was darker so I could see the details a little better.

I think all of your work is amazing and this, in it's own unique way, is more impressive than a person or animal. To be able to have so much detail in the wood and grass, rocks - all that is just pure awesome.

You're such a great teacher Armin. I hardly dare to express myself after you have spoken, let alone my admiration for your art.
"Every day people walk by this insignificant scene, never noticing, never looking, at some point I did."
So do I, and it's often a start for drawing improbable portraits of human faces or animals that I see, especially in stones and trees.
90° anticlockwise, I would have seen a face, and I would have begun to draw the sleeping face of a child. Her hair are already there, her arms seems to be too. An easy way of escaping the difficulty to draw reality, isn't it?
YOU have the ability to engage me with your images, I humbly admire your talent in each one of your pieces of artwork.

Thanks Pat, it’s that childlike sense of discovery that no holds spirit of visual adventure that’s a vital part of the artistic nature, others look at it as immaturity.
