Description Socks is almost a spitting image of my chihuahua... so i figured I'd one day draw them together to compete to see who is the real likeness and who is the model.

...will save that for another day. Tito just isn't drawn enough XD

Do you have any idea how insane it is to try to do a digital coloring of a character that is typically colored traditionally? probably not that hard, but still... it's me doing it, which automatically makes the difficult +9 levels. XD

anyways i hope it still kinda resembles Socks, because... yeah.

Anyways, what's going on? looks like they're having a swagger contest. what's a swagger contest, you ask? stop asking questions. weirdo. XD

It's hard to digitally draw characters with realistic fur patterns unless you're good at painting in Photoshop, which is why I had rough time designing Sparkz at first before going with what you see now...All I'm saying is you did a fine job for something so difficult!

A cartoony-style chihuahua next to a realistic-style...whatever breed Socks is supposed to be. I do love me some juxtaposition Nicely done!

omg realistic fur patterns digitally coloring take forever and a half. i didn't know it'd be this hard. i had to go over and over with a soft eraser so the color separation was smooth and yeah. i have NO idea how i would have been able to have made it the way YOU did with Sparkz which, i will forever be grateful for, as i've never seen an example of SOcks drawn digitally. flying blind in visual art is never something i'm comfortable with

ah, but now i'm intrigued as to what Sparks looked like before you came up with his current design.



i always thought Socks was a chihuahua, perhaps the same breed as mine that looks like a mini jackal/coyote mutt, but he's actually a wolf dog mutt... same diff, i guess (and yes, the and are kinda addicting, aren't they?)

The only difference is that the patches of black fur were once all over his body, and I tried to emulate 'realistic' fur patterns by using the smudge tool on said patches...it went about as well as you can expect, with Sparkz looking like some kind of gray Zebra. So in the end I just limited the black to being the same fur pattern that Rita had, with the ears and hair tuft thrown in for good measure.

I quickly learned that realistic fur patterns and toony art style don't mesh very well. There would be much difficulty in me trying to draw Socks in my signature style, so I must give you credit for attempting this. If it had been me I probably would have just forgone the smooth color separation and left it at that, resulting in one awkward-looking Socks as he's drawn in a more realistic art style than Sparkz is.

Socks is definitely meant to be colored traditionally... there's a way to do him digitally, and i'm not there yet. it require a lot more knowledge of digital brushes, the burn too, the blur tool and the smudge tool, and i'm proficient in none of them.
i still profess if there is one person that can decode the text in my head and turn it into a graphical depiction, it is definitely you. your decisions you made on his coat were spot on, though zebra Sparkz would have been fine, too

i tried doing toony-style Socks to no avail as well. still pretty limited in what i can actually execute, but ill get there one day. or not. that's why there's Gui

I don't even know what to say at this point. You are blowing me away!!!! Geez somehow each piece keeps getting better and better. This is amazing. Both Tito and Socks came out incredible and I love the coloring!!! I especially love the coloring on Socks. Great background and detail on this right down to the nails on Socks. Keep up the amazing work!!!

OMFG this is ADORABLE XD I KNEW Socks would look great in your style, I just knew it! And Tito! You're right, Tito doesn't get enough love Xp He's such an awesome character XD Thank you SO much man! I have a few sketches of Sparkz done now (yes a few, I couldn't decide what style to go with so I did more than one XD) They're too light and messy to scan yet but I'll try and get em done sometime today. Especially considering the fact that I won't get much chance to draw tomorrow (doctor's appointment. I'm gonna have a nice day full of anxiety tomorrow. )

I think I've overwhelmed myself, I didn't expect so many in a single day either - nor did I know my journal would be seen as an invite for anyone and everyone to ask for free art requests o_O I have SUCH a problem saying no for fear of hurting people's feelings XD But I've been wanting to draw something for you for a while anyway X3 Thanks again; I'll get my half done asap! :"D

XD dude, take your time. superstars of the pencil like yourself have to take care not to burn yourselves out. like i said i just got addicted to this one and i was afraid if i stopped i wouldn't get whatever i was trying to do right. i'm still not sure it's right, blurring the secondary colors like that, but apparently you like it so that's huge sigh of relief on my side and i can take a nap without having a nightmare XD

i thought it appropriate, using Tito, since i think that's how we first met was when i drew Tito the first time XD

i'll have to practice a LOT MORE before i draw Socks again. he's deceptively simple, meaning there's nothing simple about drawing him at all

anyways, when i draw him again, maybe i'll draw him with my chihuahua... XD

ugh doctor's appt, eh? realyl don't worry about it... i'd rather you draw Sparkz when you feel like drawing him, even if it's like two months from now. in the mean time it'll give me something to for XD
