Description I shot this at a Panera down in the Plaza.

I was waiting for my food when I noticed a couple sitting at

a table together. Both were heavily involved in their laptops

until the woman got frustrated and started going through

the papers she had. All the while the guy was sitting there

completely invloved with the music (I assume) he was

listening too.

I see things like this frequently. This disconnect between

people, often by technology.

Anyway give me your thoughts.

Prints available upon request.

Reminds me of this older couple I saw having breakfast together. Both buried in their newspapers and completely oblivious to each other and what was going on around them.

I'm interested in art a lot, as I'm sure most of us here do (I hope) but I'm most interested in art from real life, just like movies; if I can see a connection between me and a movie I will like the movie better. A brief example is movies based on real life.

Getting back to my point now, I see this as art, art which has not only happened but art which I can relate to. I fine that difficult to get these days because most art that's modern is INYOURFACE. This is subtle and I like it. Its not taken in a glamorous angle, none of these people look like models told to sit in a position for the shot, they're just real people. The emotion is raw and real. Well done.

One of the sades things I saw these days. It's good to see this kind of photos from time to time. They make you think about yourself. I'm gonna talk eye to eye to my friend today for sure!

my favorite is when a couple is walking together, arms locked or holding hands, and they are both talking on their respective celluar phones.

this photograph is not a lie.

We get so disconnected when we are on these silly machines sometimes.

This photo is a little sad and actually a lot scary to me. I think this is the future of humanity.

personally, I think it's sort of sweet. even if they weren't paying attention to each other, they were together... rather close, it seems. sharing a table and everything. it's a difficult perspective to describe and certainly not a popular one.

People don't really need technology do get "disconnected", as you call it. But technology more than often helps people to stay in touch. It all depends whether they want it or not.

Ah, that is really very sad... I heard about a couple at a restaurant who ate while talking on their cell phones, never once initiating a conversation with each other. Great photography capturing the preoccupation of mankind with their so-called advancements... We are so interested in getting ahead sometimes, that we forget about the things that, or those who, really matter.

This is outstanding. I can't believe you didn't stage this. If you did, well, it's still good. But that this is a moment in time you somehow stumbled upon (without the people caring or noticing you took their candid photo) is amazing.

I love that he looks overcome with annoyance and ennui at whatever is on his screen... and the woman with her face in her hands seems distraught, like she really wants him to pay attention to her, but he doesn't notice because he's in a bubble.

Quite awesome. Very deserving of a Daily Divination. And if these people on DA had any taste at all, it would be a most popular too.

My first impression though... is that the cropping is all wrong. What about a square crop? Everything to the sides is distracting to me.

How about this...

it seems so rude!
