Description
I shot this at a Panera down in the Plaza.I was waiting for my food when I noticed a couple sitting at
a table together. Both were heavily involved in their laptops
until the woman got frustrated and started going through
the papers she had. All the while the guy was sitting there
completely invloved with the music (I assume) he was
listening too.
I see things like this frequently. This disconnect between
people, often by technology.
Anyway give me your thoughts.

Wow, I am in love with this one simply for the fact that it is funny, sad, and frightening altogether. It really makes me angry about what we've come to... and I've never liked electronics very much anyway. Geez, I can't believe this is actually happening... thanks for uploading. You deserved the DD, and I am faving it ^^

Pretty much a testament to society at the moment. Am I alone in finding it sad that my child phones me from her bedroom, or IM's me rather than coming out of the room and talking?

A realy great shot. My first impression was: Wow, what a guy, his girlsfriend crys in front of him and he doesnt notice it. But on the secound view, I saw that she is just sitting in front of her stuff.
A very good job, the meaning of the shot looks so clear but to get the real background you have to take a closer look at it.
Just great.

this is the kinda thing you see where i work...epically if a couple come in and they have a laptop. 9 times out of 10 you can see one of them having to sit quietly, entertaining themselves as the other is on their laptop. You get the odd couple that come in and both use the laptop but this is very very rare.
Its a very unfortunate

great, simple shot. a photographic capture in the truest sense, no photoshopping necessary here. and yes, i couldn't agree with you more about a significant disconnect within the culture (often, as you stated, resulting from a technological divide). it is not seen only in interpersonal relationships, as captured by the shot, but also in passing between strangers. Exemplified by the Bluetooth phenomenon, there exists a serious and detrimental discord that acts to separate. We rationalize by explaining that our lives are faster and more demanding than they used to be. But in reality, our lives are what we make them.

This picture reflects how well techonology is not designed for real time interaction, and how it mostly focus on the individual instead of a groupe/collectivity.
Unfortunatly, nowadays's gadget isn't helping people to actually get aware of each other, but to mostly ignore. sad.
very nice shot, I fav this for sure

"This picture reflects how well techonology is not designed for real time interaction, and how it mostly focus on the individual instead of a group/collectivity."
That's also interesting because of today's "real time" culture. Everyone wants everything now, and people think that social networking when done through technology is more efficient. However, it loses the person and replaces it with emotes and text messages. Do people even know how to communicate face to face anymore? Will the children of tomorrow partake in virtual slumber parties and virtual campouts?

hehe, I am effraid to think about it seriously for a second.. But honestly, I think that the future generations will have to learn how to combine and balance technology and the importance of sociability. Or to focus on making it more "life being" friendly.

The lack of communication is incredible. I was looking for ages for a picture of this. Also see this kind of scenes A LOT and is very, very sad...

Well.. they may appear to be disconnected. However, their comfort in the level of disconnectedness they have may just reflect the comfort level of their bond together. I share this kind of a bond with my girlfriend. We can both sit at computers for hours and hours of the day, but we're still madly in love with each other and our computers do not alienate us at all.
That's not to say that alienation can't happen, just that sometimes.. it doesn't.

Thank you
It really is more apparent the more you look around. Its pretty much become a norm to walk around staring down at your phone (insert other device) etc.
And I've done it myself, although I try to look around more and actually SEE where I am. If not for more than the photo opps that could be taking place beneath my nose.

YES. Every time I see a pair of friends walking side-by-side, one on the cell phone and the other clearly absorbed in the MP3 player attached to his/her ears, I shudder.
Excellent shot.

Yes, technology disconnects people. Isn't it great we're able to capture ideas like this with cameras, upload them to our computers, and share them through the internet?

Good one.
I didn't mean to say all technology is horrible trash. I love my camera, and my ability to share this with other people. Technology is great for spreading art among other things like information and news. And some other not so great things.

Good shot

Okay, so I've honestly got something to say.
I love Brandon and his artwork, like no other. Now, Brandon's cool, and I'll give him that much alone, but I like how he doesn't post stuff all the time.
And I really do mean all the time.
I find it ridiculous how people post different "snap shots" every single time they take their camera out of the house.
But Brandon, Brandon is quite choosy with his artwork, especially his photographs, wherein he ceases to post but singular pieces every once in a blue moon.
Brandon, is an idle. live life by this bitch's methods.

What gets me is that it's funny and sad at the same time. It really shows what we've all come to. I didn't even notice the woman's laptop before; it just looked like she was frustrated that he wasn't paying attention to her, but I like how this works too.
Maybe we're all in our own little worlds.
