Description
Upper Antelope Canyon, outside of Page, AZThis is one of the few slot canyons that survived being flooded by Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam, and is probably the most famous slot canyon in the world.
Upper Antelope can only be reached on a guided Navajo tour, due to a flash flood that took the lives of 12 tourists in 1997. It is narrow at the top and widens as it descends. This allows the little bit of sun that gets in to bounce around all the curves and lines in the walls. It is this reflected light that makes the canyon come alive with glowing reds and oranges, and also allows sunbeams to come in, Antelope Canyon's most famous feature.
I took this shot towards the beginning of the tour, and is my favorite shot of only canyon wall that I took.
81B warming filter used (I didnt really need it...)
The amazing thing is that I did literally no post-work on this shot...

I've gotten to travel out west once, but I've never seen anything like this. I wish I had the time and money to just explore nature's wonders!

Wow! I'm so flattered!
I'm very glad that you like this shot so much, and many thanks for such a lovely comment.
I think that alot of the time photographers fail to mention where their shots are taken, which may of course be a wise decision, but even though Antelope Canyon is crowded enough, I think that it is a beautiful enough place that more people need to visit it and be exposed to it. Certainly if you are ever in the American Southwest, I HIGHLY suggest you go there.

Wow, the colors are great, and the composition is well done as well. I wish I lived around canyons. I've never been to the desert before. Though the Adirondack mountains are always nice.
