I can't even remember when I started this. It was a long time ago, at least three years. Originally I wanted to include it with the Best of SenshiStock book but I never developed it as much as I wanted to for the book. Instead of keeping it unfinished forever on my harddrive where no one would see it, I finally just decided to upload it here. It's really incomplete but I hope the basic stuff I talk about will be helpful.The initial pose used is
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards can be found at DrawRight.com . (It's a great book, really amazing.)
I really hope that some of you get a lot of use from this!
Huge image is huge.You can use other techniques in combination with this one (like using balls and boxes for different parts of the body). Use all the tools available to you to make the best art you can make!

The thing I love about this method is that realistic references can be applied to different styles, making them look more cartoony or distorted.

Wow! Thank you so much for this! I got really tired in the end, but I did all the sketches and I've learnt a lot! It took me a lot of time to do the first couple of sketches, but from then I started to go faster without so many mistakes. I still have a lot to learn, but I'll keep practicing! Thank you! <3

I have a weird mind. Btw, I used the ideas in this tutorial to work out the pose of my half-elf ranger female--I like being specific lol--Lu'thea, which I just started, so I won't have it up for awhile, given xmas and all.

I'm doing it BIG lol. 1.5" per 'head.'

I now have the basic sketch done. I did her nude--always--then added her ranger outfit, just haven't shaded or anything. I made myself a tone chart, first time. 
I'm just starting to do more gesture drawing, and already I'm getting a better grasp of human bodies and flow of lines. Some of it still looks weird, but accuracy isn't the point.

some comments: one, 2H is a bit too hard for a drawing surface, is more of a technical use pencil...and kneaded or vinyl erasers are best; the pink ones aren't so good...gum is ok, too
