Description
An image showing my drawing process for my latest project. I start with tones of tiny sketches, then choose the best ones and block out my comic pages very loosely. The sketches are then enlarged and printed out in the rough panel sizes. I print the lines at .3 grey and then draw over top of them with a pen and sharpie. At this point I just care about the composition and general shapes. For the final stage I trace over the inking with an animation pencil, on a second sheet of paper.... adding in all the details. At some point these "final" images will be inked by me (or someone better) for the finished image.Related content

It never occurred to me that you were doing the finals with traditional media. Printing the roughs and drawing over them is also what I used to do way back when 3D programs were not at all realistic (the first three versions of Poser)...although I wasn't all that good at the actual drawing (which is why I'm thankful 3D quality improved quickly). Very cool as always!

Yeah, I do it old school. But I am slowly learning to ink digitally.
