Alright! i have been hammering the APU's coloring for this past two weeks and this is the outcome so far, i have the operator's sit done, so is Alphaleo himself, the biggest success of this piece goes to the metal texture on the APU and the rust effect, and i'm still working hard to improve it, i;m still pretty uncertain on the lighting for the moment but for now i just wanted to get the whole APU done then i'll worried about the lighting. so far so good.Lastly today is my birthday and i'm 25 now.........YYYYEEEAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

While I hate to impose on such an old picture, I'd love to ask a question. How did you manage to get the APU line art to be that precise? Did you use a line tool of some sort?

How do you airbrush like that? the detail is just gorgeous! How long does it usually take, and what tools do you use? I need help badly. And do you mind if I save this to my computer as a refrence?

i experiment with a few brushes and dry brush is the tool, i do also paint form dark to light.

Oh WOW. The facial expression is EXCELLENT. The metal texture is PERFECT, and the background succeeds in being simultaneously abstract and integrated with the subject. Took my breath away, simply amazing!

sure, why not, i'm still experimenting on better way and technic to paint metal texture, u can also go to the official matrix web site to check some of the rusty interface they did site, they can be good expert refrence, of caurse the difficult part is trying how they did it, mine, i still have some problem remembering how i did that, so some of the surface may look different.

sure feel free to use it for your refrence, if u want better rust effect, u can go to the official matrix online to get some of the rusty little picture they have for their site, what u seen is a only 15% done work, i there will be more changes to make after this, stage 1, oh how i envy u have holiday, ever since May i have been working on Johan cartoon series with no holiday, man! i need one.

Mood u say... hmm... i think a dua tone style COULD help it somewhat, to show that even amongst killing machines and sentinels, there is still hope and brotherhood, and that these anthros are fighting for the best of all anthrokind. Duatone cool/warm colours.

This is looking to be a most impressive piece... Your dedication is really paying off, I can see it in the details. The texturing of this is amazing, the rust and wear-marks are all in positions which gives such a feeling of realism.. Awesome stuff.
