Description
"The End of the Ballad"Allosaurus fragilis. An acrylic painting of an Allosaurus who lived fast and died young. He is on his last step, before collapsing from dehydration and starvation. Something of a homage to the very unattractive "shrink-wrapped" dinosaur reconstructions that plagued paleoart quite some time ago.
Completed on the 19th of April 2014.
Done using acrylics and water soluble color pencils.

I almost don't know where I should start to tell you, that your work is really impressive in my eyes and it is not only because Allosaurus is my absolute favorite.
The slight atop angle you have chosen to depict the Allosaurus is great, since myself tries to draw Allosaurus not only in a plain lateral view, which can be very challenging to archive a not odd look. Personally, I can't stop looking at the well-shaped head with the painted textures and a smooth transition from head to the neck.
Also, the details like the iconic swollen foot, the slash marks on the side of the Allosaurus' neck give the beholder a good impression of a hard life in an unforgiving environment - here, a desert like, arid landscape.
The applied color scheme fits perfectly in the above mentioned location as well and would certainly help the predator to blend in with its surroundings, if its injuries hadn't such a big influence on its hunting abilities.

This Allosaurus picture is perhaps one of the best I seen n DeviantART
Just looking at the Allosaurus tells he is probably on his last legs or is on the hunt, Allosaurus was a predator at his own food chain.
As for anything else here, the shading is impressive, the background is interesting. And the dinosaur is awesome.
Allosaurus lived in N.America, Africa and Europe all in the Jurassic 150 million years ago, the Golden age of Life. Living among the most impressive of animals: the sauropod like Brachiosaurus and Apatosaurus.
Allosaurus is the top predator of the Jurassic Period.

This is the only time "shrink-wrapping" is allowed; when a Theropod is starving to death. Well Captured.

Exactly what I was thinking. That looks oddly like Big Al, mainly because there is a spot on the foot that looks like the infection & wound inflicted on that young Allosaurus.
