So... where should I start ??This poster is dedicated to Terrifying Rei aka Nobody Dies Rei. Nobody Dies is a wacky, crazy awesome Neon Genesis Evangelion fanfic which took Evangelion, kicked it to the curb, drilled heaven with it and falcon punched it into being a Super Robot series.

About the story. Yui Ikari never went through with the Contact Experiment and Eva01 didn't eat her soul. She and Kyoko Zeppelin Soryu are alive and well (though you'll wish for it not to be true for Kyoko) and that... changed the world IMMENSLY. Believe it or not but out of the pilots Shinji is THE most normal and well-adjusted. And of the other results of Yui not dying is The Rei.
This world's Rei is a crazy awesome genki girl who goes around Falcon Punching angels, prowling ventilation chaffs in a way that would give even an Alien a heart attack, raping people with various vegetables and changing their lives while doing so, Giga-Drill Breaking angels with her beloved Go-kun (Eva05... which is Crazy Awesome in its own way...) and giving birth to cute little AI babies who hack Spider tanks and go to slaughter mutated monsters in Australia.
THIS My friends is Crazy Awesome given a body and God-Killing Angel Raping powers. AND ITS AWESOME!!

Heh, Nobody Dies is fun. Not sure if I liked how Rei has been toned down or not, though. Was probably just a matter of time anyway, and the plot has kind of become so manic that Rei being crazy would probably just make things spiral out of control, writing-wise.

Well from what I know Hideaki Anno was making it when he had some serious depression, in fact the company thought he'd butcher the project but it was so different and unique at the time (Evangelion is for Super Robots what's Madoka is for Mahou Shoujo after all) that it got lots of fans. Did you watch Rebuild movies? Much more upbeat and just filled with pure distilled Awesome.

Yeah they are people with problems to say the least XD It's better in the movies, Shinji actually does some badass stuff, Asuka isn't as bitchy as she was, it's not bad. The series however was one giant Mind-Rape for the viewer :-/

So I finally went and read the thing about a week or so ago... (give or take a couple of days). I'm an insane person, I've been like that for a long while now... and I can now honestly say that I'm even MORE insane than I was before. Which is AWESOME! I thank you for recommending this little bit of madness. Awesome Rei is Awesome. Though, Shinji and the clean gun that cleans with FIRE! also deserves a special mention. Gotta love the Ree-shness of it all...
I STILL think that "Thousand Shinji" is more awesome, but that won't stop me from reading some of the fanfics about this fanfic at some point or another...
