thank you so much, im blushing to tell you the truth, most work i made was inspired by works by professional artists. in the case of the lighting in this piece, i saw how others treat their lighting and simply try to follow the points to make the same effect. so the credit isn't entirely mine

Even still, you're applying what you've learned and see, and that takes talent! Most work for the beginnings of my travels as an artist were also based on pros, but that's how we get better! We learn by example! ^_^

^^ don't you think a writing style is harder to imitate than that of drawing? i wish i could write like brian aldiss... im a sf addict, at least thats close enough to fantasy

That it is. I wish I could write like my favourite author, Terry Pratchett. He has such wit and comedy in it, that everytime I read one of his books, though I may have read it 10 times, I still laugh ^_^

i love terry pratchett too, yes he's hilarious! i havent read too much of him but i read the discworld comics and loved them so much.
if you dont mind me saying though, your style is more refined than comedy

wow, thanks! It may just be the difference in style, and that my style is more simple. I was just noting the amount of detail present in your pieces!

simple works best dont you agree? its also trendy like naruto, hikaru's go, and the likes. i like details but its hard to make details look professional unless youre really REALLY good. i believe im just scraping the surface cos by the time i show my work to a pro (like my manga tutor) he can always find what wrong with them
oh and i just noticed, your style kinda reminds me of love hina...

again, my salute goes to you for pointing out exactly what had gone wrong in the inking process. i guess you can't really see it on the digital file but the real drawing is full of white-outs and white correction inks especially in the hair region (hence the abnormal colour and shape around the hair area). the hair has in fact been modified two or three times and it's pretty amazing how you can pick that up even without looking at the original. cheers!

i would say that you can digitally correct all your faults in the inking proccess... no one is perfect and god knows i erase more than i draw

oh, and just in case you didn't spot this... there a break in the tone region just below his collar. thats because the tones got ripped in the process... :/

by full-clad do you mean 'fully clothed'? your welcome on billy idol. i also saw jonathan rhys-meyers in your gallery, as elvis i suppose? i really like him! (jonathan rhys-meyers, not elvis
)
π: 0 β©: 1
Antraks In reply to andie5 [2006-08-31 10:37:59 +0000 UTC]
hahaha, no by full-clad I mean err.. like well..huh.. I'm so | | close to saying it in estonian. I think I won't be using that online dictionary again it's not the first time it has put me in an akward situation. I wanted to say that it's finished and every detail looks perfect..or something similar, I hope you get the point, that dictionary also offers 'surfaced' but I'm not sure if that's the correct phrase either. Educate me a bit and tell me what is the correct word?
I really like JRM too, I actually didn't know it was him as Elvis, i chose the picture because I liked the hat. But there's something about him which again I don't have an english word for and I'm definitely not going to try to translate with that dictionary .
π: 0 β©: 1
andie5 In reply to Antraks [2006-08-31 13:51:50 +0000 UTC]
are you estonian? your english's really fluent though. the correct phrase would be... hmm thats a tough question. perhaps 'finely detailed' or 'sophisticated'? my native language isn't english either so i'm probably not the right person to ask but i must say your use of words are good as it is. for example, you use the word 'educate me', which is very sophisticated and high-class if you ask me
lol what is this online dictionary called? i was wondering if you speak russian too in estonia. im trying to learn russian and the cyrillic alphabet but they are just too hard im afraid
yes i think it is JRM as elvis. didnt get any chance to see that series but i'd definitely love to. he's sooo cute!
π: 0 β©: 1
Antraks In reply to andie5 [2006-08-31 15:22:10 +0000 UTC]
Yes I am estonian. I actually assumed that english is your native language because you speak it so fluently. Finely detailed sounds right but I like the word sophisticated, I've never heard anyone using it while describing art, but it kind of suits here, doesn't it?
It was somekind of local estonian-english online dictionary page, I usually only use it to check my spelling.
I actually have learned russian for oh my...5 years, but my skills are really poor. I blame the teacher Which is sad really because most jobs here require fluent russian languageskills. But the alphabet does need some time getting used to, I think if you've started already try to keep it up, it only gets easier.
(Talking about JRM: Have you seen the movie velvet goldmine? I haven't seen it but JRM, Christian Bale and Ewan Mcgregor playing together sounds appealing but I don't know how I feel about the storyline. In case you have seen it, is it worth watching?)
π: 0 β©: 1
andie5 In reply to Antraks [2006-08-31 17:29:30 +0000 UTC]
yes, i recommend you to watch it!! i dont really fancy ewan to be quite honest but JRM is soooo damn cute in that movie, esp with that blue hair eheheh. christian bale is nice too although his role in the movie is somewhat subtle. storyline-wise, it's like a take on an alternative david bowie life story. but it's become such a cult movie nowadays and a good entertainment too. theres a song titled 'tumbling down' which JRM sang in the movie and thats one of the best songs ive ever heard
thank you for the compliments regarding my english. i lived in london for three years so english has become something of a daily language while i was there. good going on blaming the russian teacher heheh. so is your native language estonian? i wonder if it sounds like russian why do you need to be able to speak russian to get a job? yes, the cyrillic alphabet is hard to get used to, everytime i see a cyrillic word i have to think of what it is in english letter by letter and that slows me down
π: 0 β©: 1
Antraks In reply to andie5 [2006-09-01 08:46:28 +0000 UTC]
I actually dowloaded (okay, stole ) some of the songs from that movie a while back, but only the ones Ewan sang, I'm very into him, especially his voice. I'm probably going to get (yes, steal again
) ''tumbling down'' because I can't imagine how JRM sounds like. Hmm, and him with blue hair, mmm.. I love blue hair, i colored mine blue a few years back too. But I'm kind of excited about seeing the movie now, I only need to get my hands on one copy. I've recently taken interest in rock history so I think this movie will suit me fine.
Sorry if I'm being too nosy but why were you in London? Sudying?
Yes my native language is estonian. (Prepare for a short overview about Estonia, I'm very patriotic and use every chance I get to talk about my country ) Estonian belongs into the finno-ugri language group so it sounds a lot like finnish. Actually Estonia unlike other baltic countries is more similar to nordic countries than to Russia. But because we belonged to the soviet union a lot of people relate us to russia, which is very understandable especially considering the amount of russian people living here. (I think they're about 1/3 of the whole population here). Which is also why it's important to be able to speak russian to get a job. Huh, I salute you if you actually read all that and didn't die of boredom.
Haha, I hate reading out loud in our russian class because of the cyrrilic alphabet, it takes me such a long time to figure out the word that it seems like I'm still learning how to read, fortunately I'm not the onlyone.

andie5 In reply to Antraks [2006-09-01 09:15:12 +0000 UTC]
can't you download (okay, 'steal' ) the movie off limewire or somewhere? i think it is JRM who sang the song but then again now im not so sure anymore. after all, it could be just anyone, right??
i too tried colouring my hair blue some years ago but the bleach was yellowish and made the hair green. i havent tried again ever since ehehehe.
yes i was studying in london. it was FUNNN
a lot like finnish you say..? does that mean you have lots of k's and f's? my boyfriend is norwegian and i speak a bit of norwegian and swedish as well, but are the similarities really apparent ie. will nordic people understand estonian and vice versa?
honestly i thought it was just me who couldnt get the cyrillics right. but to have a comrade in the same boat is relieving indeed
π: 0 β©: 1
Antraks In reply to andie5 [2006-09-01 11:31:04 +0000 UTC]
I probably could download it, but I'm really cautious about everything concerning my computer, so I usually ask other people do download movies for me. And I have a shared connection so the download speed is very low. But about that song, right!, can't be certain about anything anymore. Hmm...I'm sounding a bit paranoid.
Hahaha, I have heard that it happens to a lot of people, hair turning green instead of blue. I was lucky my hair turned to bright blue I don't know wether it was because of my hair being naturally blonde ( hahaha, well we all claim that. ) or because I forgot to wash it off..for like 5 hours. Talk about being absentminded, huh? XD
Studiyng in London- I just turned green of envy. I'm considering studying abroad after graduating, London would be my first choice, but I'm probably too laizy to arrange it .
Estonian is a bit similar to other nordic languages but not as much as with finnish. When finns speak slowly and clearly then we can understand them, but it's not the same with swedish language. Although a lot of the words are similar but mean different things.
I'm not sure about the k's and f's, I often think i would like to hear what estonian sounds like to a foreiginer, i'm so used to it that I can't hear how it sounds, if you know what I mean.

ah youre so cheeky! i live in indonesia and there are tons of pirated movies, you can get a new dvd movie for about less than a US dollar! and the quality's perfect! well i hope you find velvet goldmine cos i personally liked it very much. even my boyfriend who's straight admitted that all the pretty boys did get into his head haahahh.
...so are you a natural blonde or not? lol 5 hours?? what were you doing?
when are you graduating? i suppose you're not going to have to pay too much money for university in enalng cos estonia is part of the EU. i had to pay sacks of money as an international student. but your english is really fluent and i don't see why you still need that online dictionary, i think you have extensive vocabulary
too bad ive never heard anyone talking estonian before. is it similar to latvian? perhaps not. what about czech?

Antraks In reply to andie5 [2006-09-02 10:48:41 +0000 UTC]
I asked my sister to download it for me, now I only have to wait until she comes home. I have trouble finding the song though, lots song titleled tumbling down but none of them have anything to do with velvet goldmine. Unfortunately they don't sell these cheap pirate copies here, we went to russia with our class a few years ago and were just blown away how cheap cd's were there. Everyone came back with a new recordcollection. The cheapest dvd's here cost maybe 2 dollars and for that money you get a crappy comedy from the begging of the 90's. And the selection of movies isn't very varied, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't find a copy of velvet goldmine anywhere, actually I haven't seen any of the cult movies for sale.
But if even your boyfriens felt that way then I'll be drooling troughout the whole movie.
But actually yes I am a natural blonde, somewhere under these layers of hair dye.
the reason I had it on so long was because my friens was putting the color on, very carefully because I only wanted blue streaks, but she did it so thoroughly that putting the color on took somewhere between 2-3 hours so when she finished I still had to wait the color to sink into the streaks she did recently and then formula started, at that time I was very obsessive about watching formula, one of my quirks again, when I finally washed my hair the blue color spread all over my other hair, my friend was pretty frustrated, but it actually looked pretty amazing (if I do say so myself, because the streaks looked dark blue and the rest of the hair was bright blue, i'm really sorry i don't have any pictures of it, huh, that's one long story about dying hair. XD
I started my last year in highschool yesterday so I have to decide what to do with my life pretty soon, yeah, going to london would probably be a lot cheaper for me but it's still pretty expensive but on the otherhand there are always ways to get money so this probably isn't that much of an obstacle.
Your compliments about my english are boosting my ego a lot. Although I should take some language courses or smth before the exams, our english teacher left at the end of teh year and now our english class will be tought by our schools german teacher or so I heard.
I wanted to ask in my previous comment or well i can't call these comments any more..hmm..letters more like.. How many languages do you speak?
And if you're really interested in hearing estonian I could probably find some audioclip on the net.
BTW never mind my awful spellingmistakes.

where does your sister live? actually, what i meant to say was that my boyfriend was drooling too during the watching of that movie
lol the hair dye sounds fun! bright blue and dark blue...nice! so you like formula one huh?? which team? i used to like ferrari so much but now i hate them
my bro really hates alonso, i don't know why! he doesn't support any team but as long as it isnt alonso, he's alright ahahah.
yeah i reckon it'd be pretty easy to get part time job when youre in england. have you decided what sort of degree you'll be taking? i havent been in london since last august but i'll be visiting this october! (my boyfriend lives there) so if you plan to come over to london, lets meet up or somthing!
i mean it when i say your english is really good. a german teacher teaching english? heheheeh... *no comment* actually, i'm loving german accent now... especially in guys! i think it's sexy when its not too accented
i speak only english and indonesian. i understand malay and javanese cos theyre similar to indonesian. understand swedish and norwegian a bit. my mum can speak german so i know a bit of it too. and i do morse code LOL
what about yourself? how many languages do u speak? sure, if there is an audio clip i'd love to hear it and dont worry about spelling mistakes

It has been a busy week, hence my late reply.
My sister lives about 100 km away from here, she said she'll be home sometime around my birthday so not more then few weeks until I see the movie.
Yeah, I like formula one, I haven't watched it as often as I used to though. I don't really support teams, I'm a huge fan of Kimi's, it was obsession from first sight. I started watching formual regularly when he joined actually. But i have to agree with your brother on Alonso. And I'm having mixed feelings about ferrari, my point of view is probably poisoned with envy because comparing to mclaren their tactics is amazing, sneaky but amazing.
But I haven't deciaded on a degree, I'm really confused about everything concernign my future, the only thing i know is that I want to get out of this country, preferably to London, but if for some reason that doesn't work out, then to LA where my other sister lives. But if we do happen to be in London at the same time we totally should meet up.
The german teacher actually turned out to be a pretty decent english teacher, she tries harder than older teachers. But I agree accents are really cute.
Definitely an impressing list of languages you've got there. I don't speak anything really, a bit english a bit russian and i also understand german a little and on a good day i understand spanish a bit too, only because of those dreadful south american soap operas I used to watch when i was younger , but I would like to learn latin, no use for it, but it makes learning other european languages a lot easier.

andie5 In reply to Antraks [2006-09-08 02:49:03 +0000 UTC]
arrgghh, the workload is wearing me down too. what are you busy with nowadays? so i take it that your birthday is coming soon? mine too! hehe. when's yours?
i used to like kimi a lot too, mostly because he's so cute but it kind of wore out after a while. poor alonso, he's not liked by anyone it seems. yes ferrari's really sneaky, i guess i really lost faith in them after the schumacher-barichello incident. how long ago was that anyway?
it's great that your other sister lives in LA so it's either UK or US for that degree. hmm, it depends on which course you're taking of course but i'd recommend london! heheh. yes we definitely should meet up should we be there at the same time. i'm coming over in october for my birthday and will be staying there for 2 weeks. any chance you'll be around at that time?
oh thank you, actually it's not really impressive because technically i can only speak 2: indonesian and english. and my english is very unstable cos one day i can speak it perfectly and the next all my grammar/syntax can just go right out the window
wow spanish is a language i've never become familiar with. ah!! so you have "telenovelas" as well in estonia? that's hilarious! i never watched them too much but i know some people who do and they dont know spanish at all because everything had been dubbed to indonesian
yes latin is cool...but the grammar is frustrating me i bought a book the other day called "proverbia latina" which has all the latin idioms you need to sound sophisticated and learned. ahah its not much and very superficial but you've gotta start somewhere!!
)

I don't remember if I asked it already, but what did you study in London?
(sorry if I'm being too nosy. )
I'm busy with school, it's my last year so they're really pushing us hard. Plus i started driving lessons, i will be behind the wheel for the first time tomorrow, I'm so nervous.
My birthday is on 20th september, when is yours?
Hahaha, I started liking Kimi because he's cute, too. Luckily he turned out to be an amazing driver. I don't really remember when exactly, to me it semmed the whole seasons where schumacher-barrichello incidents. :/
None of my friends doesn't seem to like alonso too, but it's propbably because i've brainwashed them all. XD I guess he's a good driver, but I'll never admit that I said that!
Unfortunately I won't be in england before summer and even then it's only when everything works out. But my minds atleast made up about studying out of this country, which is a relief because now I only have to decide what to learn and how to get the money...umm..okay that doesn't sound too easy. XD
Yeah the telenovas are dubbed in estonian here too, but you can still hear a bit spanish because the dubbing is so poor. I tried watching one episode just for a laugh a few days a go and i could litterally feel my intelligence level dropping.
I think buying that book was a good idea actually. hmm.. sounding more sophisticated... , I should probably learn a few latin expressions myself and then casually drop them in my final essay. That should definitely earn me a few more extra points.

no, dont worry, youre not being nosy at all i studies journalism.
driving lessons? cool! i just learned to drive last year and have just got my licence. ive dented the car everywhere but at least im still alive
my birthday is october 26. wow yours is coming very soon!!
hah! alonso was out yesterday! hah! but i didnt like schumi that much either so... kubica should have won hehehe
lol about the telenovelas. i just wonder why they all have to have the same storyline (its always a poor woman meeting a handsome rich man and the family doesnt agree on their relationship ahah)
latin proverbs = sophistication

Journalism? That must have been very interesting, definitely a good choise? Well if you did not think I was nosy before then you certainly will now. I just wondered are you working now? And are are on the field of journalism?
Haha, exactly my attitude about driving, at least i'm still alive, I love driving but i really suck at it. But i've only been behind the wheel 3 times so i'm hoping it will get better.
And yeah kubica did great, I love it when (relatively) new drivers get good results (as long as they're behind Kimi of course XD)

i work as a writer, so it is in the field of journalism i guess but mostly i like writing, so when i first started the course it was very different from what i had in mind.
speaking of driving, i just had a motor accident the other day! i had to take the guy to the hospital thank god he's ok.
i suppose i've asked you about the course you're planning to do at university, but could you care to explain more? is it going to be arts or something related to it?

Being a writer must be great, well doing anything creative for living is. I'll try to take a look at what you've posted on DA, I think there is atleast one of your writing in your galler, right? I have lots of time today because i took a day off from school, so typical, We've been to school for two weeks and already I'm ill.
An accident, that's frightening, but i'm really glad everything was okay. I've managed to drive off the road a few times now, it's good that there isn't much traffic where I live or i would have definitely caused quite many accidents by now.
I actually haven't got any clue, which course to choose, if my art improves incredibly in short period of tiem I will definitely choose something to do with art, but if I have to stay in estonia I will learn something to do with politics, I'm really fed up with the current politics in our country.

honestly i want to quit work so i can focus on my art at home. i find it easier that way. will you look at my literature? oh that's so kind of you. however all my writings are posted in my other account which is , this one is strictly for literatures only
so are you feeling better? too bad about missing school. hope you'll get well soon though! and do you write anything by any chance? post em up as well and i'll read em
oh, no traffic sounds great! where i live there are always traffic jams especially during rush hours
you have a good hand for art i think. politics seem interesting too, i'd love to learn more about it. perhaps since you're interested in it, you can make artworks with political messages behind them? that would be wonderful!

Again i must apologize for such a late replay, i didn't even have the time to look trough your literature yet, i had the time to read one story, but my sister was home so she left me no computer time, and your work definitely deserves my FULL attention so I'll read and comment them carefully, just skimming trough wouldn't be fair to you.
But based on that one story you've got this addicting writing style, if you start reading you just have to finish it.
I'm feeling a lot better which is good because otherwise they would have had to do this horrible procedure of draining out the infection, ugh. And after one day at home I was forced to go back to school, so much for having much free time.
I don't have any talent for writing, I have ideas but my thoughts don't translate into words, if that makes any sense. And i get the word order mixed up. But I do write for my school paper, which shows how desparate they are. I wish I had the talent though because words truly are the most powerful wheapons.
I've thought about making art with political messages, that's a good suggestion. But everytime I think about doing something meaningful I find another photo of Johnny that I like and i draw that instead, I'm just hopeless.
Sorry about all the awful spellingmistakes I must have made.

hello, oh no problem about the late reply! i get what you're going thru, cos i don't give my brother that much of a computer time myself
and thanks for already stopping by the literature page! there's no rush to read them of course, you coming over to the page is already so much appreciated!! and thanks for that kind compliment too. which one story did you mean by the way?
i didn't realise the infection was so serious! oh my, i sure hope you'll be healthy in no time. too bad about having to go back to school but... hah! you win some and lose some
i'm sure everyone has a talent for writing, it's just a matter or discovering it. if that isn't your cup of tea, however, you can always go for pictures! make a comic or something, and put the political message in it!!!
and if you write for your newspaper you must be GOOD at writing! LOL!!
johnny is irresistible alright!!!
so who do you think are the 5 most beautiful guys in the world? ^^
ah, no spelling mistakes
you should be more confident about your excellent english! hope you get better by the minute...!!

So I got the velvet goldmine finally and watched it...like 5 times..during the last two days. No wonder why I have no time anymore. Anyway, now i have a crush on JRM.
I thought these kinds of things don't happen after teen years but oh well... maybe it'll pass soon. And the music, I didn't knew JRM sang '' hot one'', it has been my favourite song for the last couple of months. Now I think I need to draw another portrait of him..just need a good reference picture.
And I really like the idea of making political comics, but I think I'm not witty enough, I have very storg views and stuff but thinking of punch lines just isn't for me.
And although I like my Johnny better I do agree Johnny Depp is irresistible, he's the only actor I know that absolutely everyone seems to adore, but he deserves it.
5 most beautiful guys, huh, only five? tough choice. Well Johnny Depp definitely and JRM (he wouldn't have been in the top 5 before I saw VG. ) The other 3 are difficult to choose, the stars that I'm attracted to don't really classify under the category of beautiful they're more like handsome in a very unique and strange way, but I used to find jude law gorgeous, now I'm not sure anymore and young al pacino and robert de niro looked good too. I can't choose only five, but okay really randomly. JRM, Johnny Depp, Jared Leto, Jude law and Kimi RΓ€ikkΓΆnen. I would love to hear your top 5.
