Hi Ulrika, I'm very happy that you like my art . I use normal salt for cooking, nothing special. I first use the watercolors on the paper and then I sprinkle salt over the painting. I let it dry over night and next day you have this beautiful patterns on the painting.

No! That can't simply be the watercolors! No way!
In fact I think it is magic placed on most exquisitely sweet-tasting paper and colorful candy!

Another wonderful, and magical, piece, A, and it most certainly is joyful, enigmatic, iconic, and riotous! You've used the salt technique to full advantage here, to create an intense movement/excitement, and when the viewer catches the figures shape, all combine for a mysterious, sensuous experience! Absolutely love this painting. Fave'd.

My pleasure; I love "stumbling" across an artist that makes me feel that sense of awe and giddy discovery! You were that artist for me today!

how do you use salt in this? I really didn't know you can use salt on drawing did you mix salt with colors?

anitadunkl In reply to Othyla [2011-09-14 19:00:43 +0000 UTC]
This is the way I do it: Color some parts of the paper with watercolors and then sprinkle some salt over it. Repeat this with other sections. You have to be careful that the colors on the paper aren't dry yet and don't take either too much or too less water. It can be difficult. Let it dry over night and rub the salt off .

Soothing chromatic, and inspiring mysterious shapes... I love this composition! ...and even if you dont love psychoanalysis and interpreting artworks, i can read in here so much of the "creator' soul" : radiating warmth, loving to share happiness..,... creative deep mind - mysterious but in thirst of been shared... a soft shyness/cation, too, in revealing inside to others ... serenity and selflessness... patience and carefulness for details...
This is what i see and imagine behind this painting... And im sure these "features" belong to the author in some way, even they are just a part of the "whole", shown in this painting

Wow, thank you so much for your nice interpretation! These aspects really describe my personality a bit, so your comment was very nice to read . Oh, and I have nothing against interpreting artworks... it's just that I'm not good in interpreting myself. People often asked me to interpret their artworks because I'm a psychologist, but this is something I've never learned or done before so I can't do it very well
.

neither did i learn of those... but it is enough to follow the "effects" an artwork echos inside my mind ... then i try to "read" and imagine upstream, towards the author's mind... Your whole artwork is full of sensibility and intense ensnared emotions. Create!, and never stop to extrude yourself into your art, as you did so artfully till now!

I like the combination of colors used here...Its all very earthy...Right ?

anitadunkl In reply to yesprabhakar [2011-08-24 12:04:24 +0000 UTC]
I think the colors are either earthly or like fire, whereas the flow of the figure is like water or wind . So all elements are included
