Description Well... what else would you call it then? ;d

It's a Godzilla Turtle (Xenochelone spp.), like RAWR!

... well Tortoise, technically, but ANYWAY, Srsbzns!

It's my first actual attempt at the 3dsmax/zBrush pipeline (previously I only tried sculpting one other mesh). It came out quite nicely. There are some artifacts on the normal map from my overenthusiastic sculpting but not much that can really be a problem. Also I made the mistake of putting seams in places where they actually affect the normal map (the most obvious error is the one on the shell). Again, not THAT noticeable.

Done in around 6 hours. Had a lot of fun.

Unwrapped model details:
3507 verts
3512 polys

Texture:
2048x2048 Normal Map
2048x2048 Tileable Organic 'Alien Skin' texture + AO overlay
Render: Skin Material/Mental Ray

Technically, game-ready. More to come as I familiarize myself with it. Though I think I'd still prefer mostly handmade normals when it comes to hardsurface.

The Giant Turtle from Godzilla is name Gamera, so that's what I'd call it ^__^

Caution though; Gamera is full of Turtle Meat

Apart from that; Very. Nice

that is some gnarly normal map distortion. In the end, all that matters is how it looks on the final model. :3

Give it some tentacles and you've got the beast from Cloverfield.
