Hi There!
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D. ! congrats!
ODDS (oibyrd's daily deviations) are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure (and ALSO, to show off people who I think are undeniably talented in their own genre of art, regardless of their #'s of fav's or pageviews. I like what I like ). Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists. If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! xoxo Sandi

Thanks for this. wonderful but low-quality images are so frustrating. its right up there with when the very top of a head is cut off or some other part. Hacking the edge off any body part can make it so I cant use it for my art.
thanks for showing your crop with her toes included!

You're welcome, it was fun to do.
Oh yes, I do know what you mean. Although, I have used a stock image with a missing forehead, and had to completely paint it. I wish stock artists wouldn't crop out important bits.

An excellent tutorial -- and very useful, too!
Myself, I'm torn between "fixing" problems with stock photos, or leaving it up to the artists (both have their advantages and drawbacks, I guess...)

Thank you very much!
I used to be unsure of which is better, but now I've got it down to a science, and therfore I can fix up photos really really quickly.. So if I'm going to crop the image, I might as well do that other stuff, too, you know?

My beautiful, beautiful Canon Rebel XT . It took me forever to save up for it, but since I've had it's been wonderful..

You have earned my eternal jealousy. Well, until I can save up for a Rebel or 10D, that is. But then, I can be jealous because you're so much better looking than me, and so good with poses, and... Okay, I guess I can be eternally jealous. But in a good way, mind you.

Spiffy tutorial!
My own stock ain't too grand and I'm no good with Photoshop, but I try to get my stuff at least as close to properly upright as I can, and I've used the little healing tool a time or two. When I go back to submit all my stock under the new and improved categories DA's got going on now, I'll have to come back to this tutorial and do a bit more work on my photos.
again for the great tutorial!

My own stock ain't too grand either, but people seem to like it. I've been using photoshop for almost a year (on and off) so I certainly know my way around.
No problem, glad to be of help.

This is absolutely terrific! I don't suppose you'd let me post this to the *Manip-Equips gallery? I'd also like to feature it on our "submitting to the gallery" page for a reference to our members who would like to submit stock photos - if that is ok with you!

Of course you can submit it to *Manip-Equips , all I ask is that you wait maybe one to three days before doing so, since I'm also going to submit it to *stock-salon And it would be silly to have them listed really close to each other, you know? And about featuring, I'd love for you to. Thanks!

I don't do stock photography, but this was very interesting. I had no idea how much work goes into the photos even after they're taken!

Well, thanks for reading. After a while, it becomes very natural, and now I can fix up my photos very very quickly
A lot of people do nothing to their stock, which is usually rather obvious when browsing the stock section (some don't even rotate them! Which is odd for me, because my camera does it automatically), but I hope this will encourage people to do more than pose in front of a camera.

Me too! I really wish people would realize that stock isn't just about being in front of a camera. I'm sick of people using the stock section as a place for reject shots, their personal storage or myspace.
