Description Name: Zipporah Grant
Born: September 18, 1900; Harlem, New York
Died: April 11, 1970; Montgomery, Alabama (age 69)
Allegiance: Assassins

Bio: Zipporah was born in Harlem to a poor black family who often came under threat simply for their race.  Her father was tragically beaten to death by a racist mob when she was only four, and her mother mysteriously disappeared around the same time.  The only people left to raise her were her grandparents, Nesher and Rosie.  They took the girl in and raised her as their own, and they decided to pack up and move to a new location in order to stay safe.  They moved to Nesher’s hometown of Chicago, where life was booming, and Zipporah thrived.  She made dozens of friends, including a perky blonde girl named Charlotte, who became Zipporah's best friend for life.  The two girls grew up with songbird voices and a love of music to match.  Once they reached their late teens, they gathered up some of their friends and formed a musical group whom the neighborhood adored.  A swinging band plus the beautiful voices of the girls made them extremely popular.  This new Jazz Age looked like it was about to be a golden age for Zipporah, until tragedy crawled into her life one day in 1920.  While walking home from a show, she stumbled across the bleeding body of her grandfather, who had been stabbed in an alleyway.  She screamed and sprinted over to try to help him.  He used his last dying breaths to give her his necklace and told her to seek out the symbol that hung on it, because something big was about to happen that he tried and failed to stop.  He passed away in Zipporah's arms, and she wept for days.

Charlotte did her best to comfort Zipporah in the following weeks, though the latter was still rather distraught.  Their jazz band became a blues band rather quickly.  Charlotte knee that what Zipporah needed was closure.  She needed to find out who was responsible for the murder.  And so the two girls searched across Chicago for the teardrop symbol on Nesher’s necklace.  They eventually stumbled across an old tavern building in the center of town with the symbol etched into the door.  The girls knocked on the door, being answered by a pair of eyeballs behind a small slot.  Zipporah showed the bouncer the necklace, and he allowed her passage.  The man introduced himself as Arnie Falcone, the son of Italian immigrants and the leader of the Chicago bureau of the Assassin Brotherhood.  Zipporah, confused, had several questions, and she explained the situation with her grandfather.  Arnie sat her down and explained that her grandfather was a Master Assassin, part of an ancient organization dedicated to defending humanity's freedom.  He had killed a Templar, the Assassins’ mortal enemies, named James Colosimo, a gang leader in the Chicago Outfit.  The Templars, in return, killed Nesher and prevented him from revealing their plans.  Arnie offered Zipporah a chance to join the Assassins in order to both take up her grandfather's work, and bring justice to those responsible for the murder.  She accepted.

Zipporah, now an Assassin in training, met with Chicago Outlet leader Johnny Torrio, who had collaborated with Nesher to eliminate Colosimo.  For the next few years, she assisted Torrio and his right hand man, Al Capone.  Over the next few years, she worked to help them eliminate their enemies in the Chicago gangs and replace them with allies of either Capone or the Assassins, such as when she killed the North Side Gang leader, Dean O’Banion, in 1924.

In January 1925, Al Capone was ambushed, and Zipporah came to his rescue.  Twelve days later, Torrio was ambushed as well and shot by unknown assailants that Zipporah assumed to be Templars.  After Torrio recovered, he retired and placed Al Capone in charge of the Chicago Outfit.  Zipporah became more and more suspicious of Al Capone, especially when his reign became more and more violent.  Many stores were blown to pieces because they refused to listen to his demands, and many innocent lives were lost as a result, putting a very sour taste in Zipporah's mouth.  She started taking matters into her own hands again with the help of Arnie and Charlotte.  In 1926, she killed Templar agent Hymie Weiss, and her final straw with Al Capone came in 1929, when the Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre hit the streets of Chicago.  She confronted Capone personally not long after that with Arnie.  Capone swarmed them with a horde of his goons armed with machine guns, and revealed that he was the Templar ring leader all along, manipulating everything in order to give him total dominance over the city, even being behind the death of Zipporah's grandfather.  After a hard fought battle with guns and steel, Zipporah managed to corner Capone, but she decided to spare him, To have him arrested instead of killed.  She swore to tear down his empire while he watched from behind bars, A fate worse than death for the Templar leader.  Capone was arrested and released multiple times over the next few decades, and while he continuously tried to rebuild what he had lost, Zipporah was always there to thwart him, eventually being the one to end his life in 1947.

After Capone’s initial arrest in 1929, Zipporah began to focus on a much more pressing issue: a Templar plot that would plague the next fifteen years with misery.  In October 1929, the Wall Street Market crashed and sent the United States spiraling into the economic crisis known as the Great Depression.  The entire country was thrust into poverty, and the Templars put their puppet, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in office with the help of an Apple of Eden.  They engineered it so as to seem the Templars would be the ones to set the nation free despite having organized the whole mess, and Zipporah did her best to combat it.  However, even she ended up spiraling into poverty, and her race didn't help either.  Even her eventual marriage to Arnie didn't help.  They moved up to New York in a terrible little Hooverville, which became their de facto base of operations.

In 1933, FDR began his famous “New Deal” with the help of the Templars, allowing for the creation of Abstergo Industries in 1937.  Zipporah killed as many Templar agents that were responsible for the founding of the new company, including Paul Warburg, Frank Vanderlip, and Harvey Firestone.  Despite her efforts, the Templars finally entered phase two of their total domination plot in 1939, when they had their agent Adolf Hitler invade Poland and trigger the insane conflict known as World War II.  The Great Depression had ended, but the world was far from saved.

Zipporah and Arnie moved down to Montgomery, Alabama, in 1939, and their son Fulton was born the following year.  Zipporah found herself stuck in poverty for the next few decades, as the area was not very kind to people of her race.  She did her best to provide for her son, but it always seemed in vain.  At least until his late teens, when he began to get involved with the African American Civil Rights Movement throughout the 1950s and 1960s.  He fought alongside figures like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks to obtain their rights as human beings and American citizens.  Their people were finally given the right to vote in 1968, and life slowly began to brighten up in Zipporah's household.  She passed away peacefully two years later in 1970, proud of her son's accomplishments.

She is the great grandmother of Ava Arlie.
