Small sketch I did today. It was supposed to be part of yet another IQ-reducing comic idea, buuuut the two looked so genuinely happy and cute I didn't want to ruin the mood.I wish there was more fanart of Valhallarama, there's so few! I imagined her to have the perfect balance of Viking roughness and feminine grace, and stand out in a way that is befitting of a chief's wife. Thus the loads and loads of braids, which I think is graceful and tough at the same time X) I feel like I might want to color this, or perhaps draw her in armor next.

I've found yet another excellent representation of Hiccup's mother and I 
I really like your drawing because with the paper you used it almost looks like something Hiccup would sketch out; like a distant memory from when he was small. I definitely agree that Hiccup would take more after his mother and keep her image in his heart forever. And I adore the braids you've given her; it really accentuates her beauty while keeping her "viking roughness" at the same time. Hopefully we'll see her in her armor one day.
Overall, gorgeous picture.

I theorize that viking women are huge so they can use their weights as weapons. Because scrawny teens can still lift axes and shields without problems.
Though if they start becoming dragon riders, slender will most likely be better.

It's true that smaller would be better for dragon riding. I remember reading a fanfic where Stoick had a Monstrous Nightmare and I thought "Wouldn't his massive weight snap the dragon's neck?" lol.

Didn't Stoic ride a nightmare in the artbook too? I was wondering that myself. Though dragons seem pretty solid. That Bumblegronkle did slam in the floor with a fat fishlegs on his back and seemed mostly fine.

You're right! I was thinking that Stoick was riding on the Nightmare's head (which meant greater torque, meaning greater strain on the long neck...sorry, science side speaking), but I believe he was riding on the back in the art book. I'll check again
LOL I totally want to see a Viking mosh pit, complete with dragons. Hopefully Hiccup won't get crushed XD *brings out the bagpipes and Viking drums*

LOL I know what you mean. The two female teen Vikings are quite skinny and gangly, but the all adult women (however few) that I've seen on screen were quite well built. Plus, I can't ever imagine Stoick marrying anyone less than three-quarters his size XD
