It started as a sketch, how did it turn out like this, how did it turn out like this...^q^;; basically I started a doodle of Utena and then next thing I know it grew into this...
I decided to entered this into the PIXIV x REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENA contest on Pixiv and won a runner up prize! So you will find this illustration printed in the PIXIV x REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENA fanbook.
The contest was judged by the staff and creators of the anime/manga itself; Kunihiko Ikuhara (director), Chiho Saito (manga-ka), Shinya Hasegawa (character designer). I feel incredibly honored to have been selected for a runner up prize! PIXIV was also incredibly generous as to send me a copy of the artbook itself ! (Which wasn't listed as part of the runner up prize?)

HMMm well usually i draw the main part of the hair, sort of to get a general idea of the direction the hair is moving... and just keep adding locks of hair moving in the same direction (o3o)a IDK SOBS OTL

This is one of my favorite anime of all time. I love what you did with the symbolic imagery in the background with Anthy and the swords. It's something you only see at the end of the show and suddenly when you see it, everything starts to make sense. I also love how you colored Utena. The colors are so bright and beautiful. This whole thing is bright and beautiful!
