before I started to use fx101, I was trying to render a 3d Julian with raytracing algorithms, I screwed up, and the render look like a mess.
Nice job mate

Thanks! 1.0.0.3 has a Phong slider to control the shadow.

yeah, having the slider is better, mine has to enter value everytime.

The 1.0.0.3 version is much improved w/ menus and a faster response. You have downloaded the new program, yes? W/ the first, only the sliders worked in live view (no direct data input) but you could enter data if you were refreshing each time (not in live view).
Bet it's just gonna keep gettin' better with each revision!!

...I just viewed all the screen shots of the program and it's super cool!...
but I don't have vista and DX10 graphic card, so can't use it. but I can make my own though. well not that amazing and detailed like Tacitus but still kickass.

isn't it just unchecking a checkbox?

BlurWing In reply to OutsideFate [2010-01-14 17:08:40 +0000 UTC]
Yep, turning Phong shading off...
Have to be careful w/ your light source too.

Can sure change the highlights and shadows quickly (without tweaking those particular settings).

Yep, i think so too! Can't quit messin' w/ the interface.
I spend all afternoon bending and rendering six more works....
I'll post one of the best soon!!

It...almost looks like you coded a cellshading engine in
Amazing piece indeed!

THANK YOU!! It must be ok when the author (or is that creator) comments Amazing !!

Welcome I just tried to mimic this amazing soft look: [link] - I would share the params for this

BlurWing In reply to Xyrus-02 [2010-01-10 21:22:24 +0000 UTC]
Ambient lighting was part of it, but the trick is to DisablePhongShading... Makes it real easy!! I did save the .tpa for that render & would gladly share params (if i knew how)... Copy, cut or paste doesn't work for these files. ??

Xyrus-02 In reply to BlurWing [2010-01-10 22:57:29 +0000 UTC]
Oh thats a pity as i enforce phong in newer versions. But I could also let it be blendable hmmmm...

BlurWing In reply to Xyrus-02 [2010-01-11 00:26:55 +0000 UTC]
Oh, it should be a switch... my humble contribution?
It's a switch in Pixel Bender, isn't it?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Xyrus-02 In reply to BlurWing [2010-01-11 11:51:08 +0000 UTC]
Yes but Julia/Radiolaria are switches in PixelBender too
In my version there are blendable sliders (will be very useful when the animation framework is done)

BlurWing In reply to Xyrus-02 [2010-01-11 13:15:11 +0000 UTC]
Of course. It could be a switch w/ blendable slider when ON is active.
But, you're the creator - i'll just be quiet and hold still...

On the slider, leftmost setting means off, rightmost means on
Another thing: Jeddaka is currently holding a tacitus contest ([link] ) and I would love to see you joining in with one of your works We have so less participants

BlurWing In reply to Xyrus-02 [2010-01-11 20:14:11 +0000 UTC]
Thank you my friend. On the lesson and the contest! I did enter w/ a render from yesterday. I had been on Jacob's page but didn't notice the contest... I'm gonna do a contact sheet and email you w/ more of my work if that's ok. Then i should make a Tacitus folder for my gallery.

Lol ive kept that in mind all the time, but dont feel i have anything good enough yet *sigh ...im also having a serious problem...i cant reload any params ive saved, i get this message:- "cannot parse xxxxxxxxxxxxx ( a bunch of numbers) not a three component vector (void error(system.string))" And when i then click ok the programm says its not running anymore and everything closes What on earth is that? Ive saved at least 12 good zooms that i hadnt colored or defined properly yet, but cant load a single one of them.

Oh yea I know this, its a burp upon locale settings for decimal separator. Sorry bout that.
Fix: open .tpa file with notepad, click edit, replace and replace all comma with a period. This should fix the file. This issue will be away on 1.0.0.3 which is nigh

omg the pressure lol, i think you expect far too much from me, im only human
grrr ok 5 mins to think about what to name them, and i post 2, my very first try which i think is a cool zoom but disgusting colors and a not so good render, and one i did yesterday after your tip where the shape and turnout is ok but again i cant get the coloring right *sigh

Xyrus-02 In reply to AmorinaAshton [2010-01-12 00:44:30 +0000 UTC]

BlurWing In reply to AmorinaAshton [2010-01-09 23:36:48 +0000 UTC]
Luck, i guess. The sliders are sticky and slow with live view on. Not patient enuf to regen after every change. I can't do direct entry, only the slides work... Bet that will improve w/ the next version.
I'm just AMAZED that i've got Mandleblub on my screen in an editor -
And, the renders were takin' an hour+ w/ the default size. I downsized it to 1080x1080 & i'm gettin' 20 minute turnarounds.
