Restoration of an ancient building can be controversial, especially when the original sculpture is so eroded that the details are no longer visible. York suffered during the industrial revolutioin because the limestone is eroded by acids in coal smoke. I think this work is fairly true to the original spirit of things.

True, about the restoration. I wonder what the Venice Charter has to say about this? Still, I like how this has turned out. I find the hands reaching out for(or holding and protecting?) Adam and Even particularly intriguing.
