"Will your kind kill us all, Kevin? Does any one care any more? Does any one still believe..." The question came to me as a plea, as a lament, as a cry whispered on the wind...For some reason I feel a little melancholy today, and when I looked at this pic I took of the Ladies, it seemed that their faces asked this very thing.
My own species makes me very sad...what do I say when this question is asked of me by the Universe?
I didn't use to think that my work had anything profound to say, I used to think that maybe it was just fantasy and something to amuse, and that maybe the criticisms I would get from "fine artists" was justified. And yet my work keeps saying things without my forcing it to...I guess that will be the "theme" of my show in November.

i'm trying to understand how anyone couldnt consider this as art. This is truly an amazing piece and shows so much emotion and feeling. Looking at this piece I would never have known it to be polymer clay, it looks like you've carved it directly into wood. But that just shows the talent you have. The fantasy world is so much better than the one we live in sometimes.

Thank you and thank you for the fav on this piece. It was actually modeled in polymer clay rather than carved out of wood- but I'm glad the illusion worked!

Thank you James. I felt that I was certainly tapping into an ancient energy or voice when I was doing these, so perhaps that has come through on this piece.

And yes!!!! WE ARE (or should be) on a mission to "ROCK" the art world with this new (to some) Media. It is MY mission and always will be. After all, paints of all varieties, paper, wood, acryllics, composites, almost anything from the dawn of time, (including Blood, stones, all types of vegetation fibers, hair, skin, bones, etc)) has and/or are been an art form. Let's keep rockin' the boat. They WILL give in!!!!! They have no escape!!!! j

I'm actually in the process of making molds of these in order to make reproductions of the face collages by themselves for sale. So, once it is done, I will make multiples of these in plaster and hand paint each one, at which point they can be purchased directly through me. If you are interested still, just let me know. This one will most likely sell for $30 US dollars.

woo, that's weird - just went looking 'round one of the local cathedrals the other day 'cause my folks had come visiting, and there were a lot of little faces like these carved into things, you've got a nice bit of medieval-ness-like something going on there
