I'm guessing the robot-lady wants to be human so she can have a prettier face than the one she has, judging by her fingers on the face of the woman in the magazine cover. Guess her original face is more like the ones of those "sentai" robot-type characters on tv?

I think this piece is interesting not just because it's a robot desiring humanity (which is somewhat typical), but rather a feminine robot desiring feminine beauty.
It's a vain pursuit to desire beauty, but it's also something most people aspire to. We objectify beautiful people and scorn those that aren't for not being beautiful, but that's inherent in humanity so long as there's a form that's more desirable than others (whatever that form may be). That doesn't mean it's right, but it's an innate aspect of life itself (although the aesthetic for admiration is specifically human).
The bar code on the back of her head also hints that she's not one of a kind, part of many that require distinction in such a way, but something about the way the little boy is looking at her bothers me and I can't quite put my finger on it. It's not bad, I just can't figure it out. It seems significant, though.

No worries. It's just surprising to see people associating the idea of a robot wanting to be human to the movie Chappie since there are plenty of other older famous examples out there. The idea isn't new.
