Instead of simply showing the steps I figured I'd do a quick How-To on doing masterstudies my way . It's hot and I'm tired, so I wouldn't be surprised if I forgot something or if I misspelled things. Feel free to let me know in that case.

Think I should give this a go on a Stubbs or something, especially as I'm finding it rather intimidating trying to colour horses accurately but with some flair, if you will.

Thank you for taking the time to do this and share it with us, it's very kind and helpful of you

The only way to learn is to try it!

You're welcome <3.

Had to come back and thank you for the mental poke about using a grid to help structure the drawing. I've since been using it on photographs to help me understand the shapes and their interactions with each other. I can see a notable improvement and it's thanks to you

Uff, be careful with that one though! It has lots of different versions online in terms of colors, I'd try to pick one that seems "safe", not too saturated or too dull. But it's a fun painting for sure .

Oh yeah, I love Dali's work; Surreal is such a neat genre.

I should try this. It's been a few years since I did a master study. They certainly do help learn more about the artist's technique of the original.

Yes, they are most useful . I'm guilty of not doing enough of them (or not thorougly enough), but the latest one has definitely reminded me again of how much one can learn from a master's ways.
