I'm having a hard time believing this is done. A personal full colour piece (the first in a long while) which served as a practise on many things and turned out decent at that, with the help of many wonderful people both from DA and ConceptArt.I've had these questions a lot in it's progress while I was streaming, so I'll answer them to avoid having to answer them again in comments; every scale on the dragon as well as every strand of grass was hand drawn. I did not use any custom brushes, the standard hard-edge brush was used for the entire piece, with a few strokes of a soft edge brush here and there. Textures were used only for the rocks, and one for the base of the grass which I painted over so much that it was practically of no use xD.
I'd like to thank everyone that watched me work on this on LiveStream for their support and interest, and just for the fun :3. As well as those who read the entire description ;D.

It reminds me of some of the scenery I saw on a 2 week school excursion...

Gosh, where do I even begin?
Well, first off, all those scales on the dragon must have taken forever! The anatomy is quite lovely, and I love the simplicity of his design. Not to mention the calm look on his face - really sets a mood for this piece.
And the background... Wow! 
I really love how you made the clouds fade away into the background - it really gives a sense of depth. Plus the way you drew the river curving around those gorgeous mountains was wonderfully done.
Your shading and coloring technique is stunning! And all those blades of grass, all those little rocks, all those trees, and clouds... It is simply breath-taking how beautiful this turned out!
Your attention to detail is astonishing - and you do it in such a lovely way that it does not look overdone.
Man, what I wouldn't do to visit a place like this... I just feel such a warm, happy feeling inside when I look at this picture.
I could go on and on, but I wouldn't want to exaust you with that much text! Really the only way to describe this picture in the simplest way would be; absolute perfection.

Did you use the same colour for all the grass strokes and then go over the area of shadow with the airbrush?

Nope, I kept picking different colours for the grass and drew the strands individually that way

Beautiful work. I love the whole peaceful scene and the details! Wow... that's a lot of grass! I hate to draw grass... it takes so long!

The lighting throughout the entire piece is really consistent, as are the shadows cast by the clouds from above and the mountain from the right.
Also the reflections on the lake in most places do look good and give the scene a pretty realistic touch.
The dragon itself is just simply great, as every detail, every scale seems to be visible and getting all that detail onto this majestic creatures skin must've taken quiet some time, especially if it was all painted without any custom brushes.
All in all the scenery with its soft color-gradients and the great level of detail on the foreground as well as the background makes for a really coherent picture.

I cant tell you how inspiring and beautiful this is, every little detail, color, distance difference...And the dragons anatomy is almost perfect, the shadow comming off of the hill and over shadowing the others... There is just so much good in this picture, It must have taken FO-EV-ER.
