So this commission is about an Elder Azula trying to enjoy retirement on Ember Island. 'Trying' being the main word. At first it was going to be her and the present Fire Lord (Zuko's grand daughter), but here's my two sense: That can be anyone.
Hell who's to say that Azula still isn't crazy? Maybe even in peace, she can't shake off the feeling of seeing her mother still (even with closer). Maybe it's who she thought she would become. Or maybe it is the Future Fire lord. It's really up to you.

Teh sad reality is that Azula was never truly sane to begin with. She always had this very real need to be better than others. To quote that volleyball game, she put down that oppisite team, not out of rivalry, but because it would have been harder not to. in Smoke and Shadow, she does come back, just as bad as before. How was her sanity restored, you ask? By figuring out a new way to get into power. as Zuko said, she would never become Fire Lord. but she said she was okay with that, and by manipulating Zuko, she would be the true Fire Lord, in practice if not in name.

It kinda irked me that we never heard what happened to Azula and her gang. At least we have fanart so that we can get a possible good glimpse of what happened but still...

Yeah her name is Izumi and she wears glasses. The only thing is we don't know who her mother is.
People like to assume that it's Mai, but It was never mentioned, and I think she and Zuko break up again
in the comics.

I rarely gave any thought about Azula still being alive in the time frame, but it makes me think it could go any number of ways. Even if she did mellow with age I'm sure mentally she's still sharp as a tack. Nicely done.
