Layer Paint backyard bird series! Bluejays are the biggest bullies! I've seen about 6 of them chase out a full grown broad-winged hawk this past spring. They also give the cardinals a run for their money. It was only fitting to paint this one next. Also painted this during yesterdays Rays vs BlueJay game. haha... that was just a coincidence I think.Time: 3 hours

Your bird paintings are so cheerful and happy. And I don't think it's just because the birds themselves are brightly colored. You use really nice, rich colors and have good lighting, and there is a clear sense that you enjoy painting these.

Definitely! And I can see that. They are really pretty no matter what. We have a few in our yard but we have more cardinals, ground doves, and woodpeckers.

I always love that little touch of lavender on the breast, great detail. They are a favorite of mine, extra smart, in the crow family. Wonderfully done!

yeah they are super smart! little bluejay gangs going on in my backyard! Super fun to watch, but I do feel bad that they beat up on all my other birds! XD thanks, I thought the lavender and light green would help in the white area. I just didn't want to leave it white.
