Personally, I like using a dark dark grey for black areas in my drawing so they don't mix in with the contour lines (especially if I feel I'll need the fill bucket again in case I change my mind XD).

Really helpful tutorial though by the way...it explains everything amazingly.

OMG thank you!!! Ive been trying to find a way to do some coloring like that... but I can never find anything like that.... um... Do u have a tablet? I would really love one to help me with my art... b/c i suck at colorin... If you do... Does it make coloring art easier?

This is really cool. :3 I usually use MSN for my sketches and then copy/paste it to the program I actually draw with. (Which would be; Easy Paint Tool SAI)

I have to say, I'm rather impressed with this Tutorial, I may have to try and use the idea of sketching and doing the lineart on a kind Lion King piece I wanna do inspired by the tune "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga by using Scar and Zira...would save me having to sketch it out on my oversized sketchpad that sometimes doesn't allow for the sketch to be entirely scanned into MS Paint to be colored.

I'm going to take your Tutorial into consideration when I draw it up in MS Paint ^^

Please move this to normal digital art tutorials.
What you have done is NOT pixel art seeing as you have used line tool for the lineart AND shading .

Pixel art is the art of placing EACH pixel individually , with aid of tools such as eye dropper, bucket, etc, but the tool for lining and diving areas is supposed to be the pen or pencil tool, placing each individually.

Please don't let people be misguided to what pixel art is, that gallery is ALREADY full of miscats such as these.

This is just drawing in paint.

Instead of using the eraser to erase the gray lines, why didn't you just select all, cute and paste with gray as transparency?

it amuses me that you use the line tool to line rather than the bezier. |D doesn't it BORE YOU TO DEATH to sit and do all those tiny little lines and stuff? ah well. it's a neat tutorial and the character is cute C:
