one of my biggest fears, is that i will never really be known, that there is nobody out there who truly understands what i'm about.the concept at first was going to be about claustrophobia, but once it was done, i figured the image is a more accurate reflection of how i see myself in the world.
i told my friends today about this idea, and all but one told me i was weird, i don't think it's about being weird or not, photography to me is my way of expressing myself, through unusual, different ways. i see the world differently, i don't think it's fair that i should be labelled weird for that.
yes this is me, and yes... i did paper mache my head. and yes, it was terrifying.

Words like "alone" and "disappearing" first came to mind when I came across your photo, and after looking at it closer and reading the description, I can identify as well that I feel the way you do and I think the words describe that feeling even more.

I view the word weird as a compliment. Anyone who calls me weird is verifying that they see something in me that is not the norm, something that is different and special. Even if they have been taught to think that different is supposed to be negative, I will never see it that way.

You're not weird. You're an artist. I understand. And who cares what our friends think right? We have to express ourselves, the images in our minds, the words on the tips of our tongues. Capturing the light just right...
This is beautiful. I've also wanted to do this exact same thing. But I myself am claustrophobic. Props to you for having the guts.

That's really a stunning picture. The concept is very well thought. The comments you've made on this Deviation takes it to another level. You turned a feeling, an emotion into a piece of art. And that's quite an achievement. I like people who thinks out of the box. I believe that people who just follows the crowd are missing something very important. Be proud to be unique. Being normal is quite boring. And I think the idea of using newspaper is great. It makes me think about the media. People who are manipulated throught media and are told a way of thinking. Also, just thought I'd mention, the title fits very well with the concept. Congrats on the Daily Deviation, you deverve it.

Whew! Hey um... how did you breathe throughout this whole process of the paper mache mask? I've done some paper mache sculptures before aaaaand that can get pretty gooey. AND I can only imagine what the smell was like.

I covered all of my face, leaving one eye and my nose uncovered, then I set up my camera- got into position, covered them quickly, took a few photos and then uncovered my eye and nose again.

You know what? I feel like I'm not supposed to reveal these things to strangers, let alone the internet, where nobody can be trusted, but I feel as if nobody cares at all.
