one of my biggest fears, is that i will never really be known, that there is nobody out there who truly understands what i'm about.the concept at first was going to be about claustrophobia, but once it was done, i figured the image is a more accurate reflection of how i see myself in the world.
i told my friends today about this idea, and all but one told me i was weird, i don't think it's about being weird or not, photography to me is my way of expressing myself, through unusual, different ways. i see the world differently, i don't think it's fair that i should be labelled weird for that.
yes this is me, and yes... i did paper mache my head. and yes, it was terrifying.

hmm, i understand what you are trying to say, that maybe people whom i love the most are the ones who know me the least, or else i am too complicated for them to truely understand... i fear that too chpsauce

This is a beautiful piece that covers a hard concept. I think most of us as artists really fear that no one will ever really understand us or what we're talking about.
Please tell me that you had someone on hand for safety. Paper mache-ing your own head is real dedication.

You're not alone. I have the same exact problem. Instead of being labeled 'weird' I'm called a 'martian' or an 'alien.' It's like people are afraid of what they don't understand, and the only reason they don't understand it is because they refuse to. Your photo hits a soft spot for me, and I feel like it's personal for myself as well as what looks like a lot of other people here. The process you went through to achieve this photo and how you felt doing so makes it all the more real, raw and familiar.

I take pleasure in being labeled "weird" because who wants to be "normal" and how can you define normal when no two people are alike. be proud of being "weird" because that is who you are. dont let people judge you, you are yourself and you must be true to the beautiful and unique person you are. beautiful picture and take pride in the things your "weird" personality comes up with because if you didnt have it you would have deprived the world of a perspective that you have shared.

I've been labeled weird as well, and I don't mind it. As long as you are you, that is one beautiful thing that no one else can be. Remember that self expression and loyalty to your own self transcend labels and the narrow boxes people try to put us in. Beautiful photo, and I appreciate the concept you are trying to convey. Keep doing what you do!

sometimes when i explain a shot i would like to take, someone will say that im weird... i dont really like that. i dont say people are weird when they express themselves through art... i find it fascinating and i know that its a personal journey of growth, of creativity in a kind of spiritual sense.

Very interesting idea, don't be brought down if people call you weird though, it probably means they're to conformed to see anything out of their mind space. Weird is NOT bad, what it IS is unique.

I think your friends may be a little ignorant of how you feel. I think this is actually a deep-rooted fear of many people, many are just too afraid to admit it.
If itβs any consolation, as artists our work lives on after us so thereβs always something left there.

today, the word "weird" means you're unique, so you should change the perception when someone calls you weird, you should be proud of it instead, since you're note the same as everyone else.

i dont think feeling like that is weird, you not the only on who feels like that at times. i love this picture, it fits very well with some of my feelings ive expressed recently in some of my work.

You can make your own stamps, using Photoshop or something similar.
Still, the decision is always up to you. I was just voicing my concerns.
