Hmmm, interesting. I usually do all my magic in Photoshop (I even have a tutorial on that), but this looks quite doable. I might give it a shot.

I like your tutorial, but the benefit of this way is that you get the lighting done for you! There is still work that needs to be done on this image, and I would probably add some extra flare in PS anyway.
