Description Took me a long time lol, but heres my recent FF fan-art, depicting Yuna from Final Fantasy X performing "The sending" an act that summoners such as Yuna herself do to send away pyreflies ( those pretty glowing spirits, which may be loosly based on one of Japans ancient traditions involving free spirits depicted as fireflies ) in order to let them go to their final resting place, if not, then the beauties can potentially grow jealous of the living, and turn into more irratating enemies that caused me to drop out of the game ( yeah, I'm pathetic, hopefully this here makes up for it lol ).

Once again, like most of my fan-art, it was referenced from a small, low-quality screenshot from a video lol, some may recognise this scene from the game too, the pose, angle and sunset lighting in this exact frame made for a dramatic and beautiful scene I just had to draw, even though I knew it would be hard Oh, and before you start cheering on how I learned to make custom watermarks, I havn't, this version just has it saved on the actaul image, which is no problem as fan-art can't be sold as prints anyway

I got a similar themed fan-art with Rikku too [link]

Yuna's character design by Tetsuya Nomura. Artwork here by me intened for personal viewing purposes only. Not to be displayed on other sites without permission

Thanks for the fave and comment Glad you liked it...Oh, I must ahve forgotten about her earring since the original picture I got the idea from was a really small and poor-quality screenshot of the scene froma youtube video so little things like that were lost, and certain details I had to make up myself

lol thats ok - i know what you mean. I'm making a cosplay of Rikku FFX right now for a con, but there are NO good photos of her full outfit! Gah! I'm trying to find the most accurate one I can. But its pretty hard.
great work on the pic tho!!

It was really pretty especially the colors on the scarf bow around her middle. Nice touch on the detail.

Thanks a lot, I say the same thing to a lot of other artists here I guess no-one is happy with what they got, but I was really proud of this particular one...Final Fantasy characters are really hard to draw

The colours and details in this piece are amazing. Your painting style mirrors realism, the skin tone just looks so real. The water bubbles look fantastic as well, I assumed you used a brush and didn't draw each one individually?
The obi is a real focal point as well, it just looks so perfect <3

Chromattix In reply to black-spiral [2008-11-22 00:57:57 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Skin can be incredibly hard to get realistic...I think the dim sunset lighting mad eit a bit easier here As for the bubbles, I drew about a dozen or so in a cluster and set that to a brush which I then used in varying sizes and colours saved a lot of time

This is just astounding! You color and compose so well! Her hair, clothes, shading, the pyreflies....it's all so perfect!

Maybe I'll draw half as good as you one day.

Amazing and inspiring work!

Thankyou very much, I got the idea for what colours and composition I wanted from a screenshot of the game then just went from there and changed some things to my own liking (I didn't wnat to 'copy" it exactly lol)

Keep on practising, you'll get better, just look at my old fan-art from 2006 and yoou'll get concrete proof of that

say, what program did you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to Ki-Ri-Sable [2008-10-06 09:54:18 +0000 UTC]

Though I use three differnet programs (two for 3D, one fo "drawn") this one her eis just done in what I use for "drawn" art, and that is Photoshop (I'm sure you've heard of that, it's the universal digital art program lol) There was a bit of basic 3D work for the water in the background, but that was heavily edited in Photoshop too. Yuna herself is Fully drawn in Photoshop, and the tails of the pyreflies around here are manipulated fractal renders

yeah, having (and knowing) a variety of programs helps makes things a little easier and faster

"weightless"? very nice word I wanted this to represent the elegant and weightless dance she does in the cutscene of the game, even standing on top of a pillar of water

Thankyou, yes, at starting out, it can sometimes feel like all the time spent isn't worth it...but my mind changes when I finish it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BiKaZe In reply to Chromattix [2008-07-22 02:54:46 +0000 UTC]

Not very many people can say that. It's actually a rarity that you can. For the majority of people I know (including myself) you start an art project with hopes of it being the best, and you expel all your effort into it. Yet, when all is said and done, you think it's rate shit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to BiKaZe [2008-07-22 02:57:58 +0000 UTC]

Lol, well, I sometimes get that notion too, but it's rare since I never settle for whats not my best I can do with my given skill at the time (and pateince lol). many submit and even willingly say "it looks terrible, I know and I'll finish it later" and I often wonder why they just don't fully finish it to begin with

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BiKaZe In reply to Chromattix [2008-07-22 21:09:55 +0000 UTC]

Some artist push themselves to improve there art through self criticism. While it does work, one drawback of this is that it deters people later down the road. They have good intentions, but some can't help to be meek and humble with there art. It all depends on someones personality I believe.

WOW! I live that game and that scene! I go watch it in youtube every once in a while, it's so beautiful!

I really love the way you did the water!

Awesome painting, but if I can say one thing... I mean, two...

1. FINISH THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Her mouth is kinda weird, nothing too important

and your icon really rocks

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to Mellime [2008-07-17 02:39:27 +0000 UTC]

Thankyou...it was actually a scene from a video on the net that I used to look at when making this the water is partly done in 3D to make a good "base" for the background, but the main flow of water around Yuna's legs was fully done in Photoshop...mixing programs can get great results

Lol, I might find motivation to start playing again, but I won't make any promises lol, and I think someone said something about the mouth too...funny how something as simple as a mouth can be so hard to do lol.

And as for my avatar, thanks...it took forever to make thats probably why it's been stolen before.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mellime In reply to Chromattix [2008-07-17 14:36:17 +0000 UTC]

Well, if you are impressed by the sending in the beggining of the game, you really need to see a few scenes from the ending... That does NOT mean you should watch the ending in youtube...
really, this game is easy! try to play FF XII, then! It's not impossible, I beat it fairly easily too, but it's really a lot harder and more complicated.

The effects are really nice, the 3D, the bright colours! Mixing programs does get great results ^^

about the avatar... I never worry too much about mine, because I always change it after a little while... I just can't keep one... why bother then? heheheh

This is absolutely brilliant!
One small thing is, though, it seems like the highlights on the hair should be softer, to make it look like it's flowing more. Other than that, it's really good. ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to smilie-terrorist [2008-07-11 00:47:14 +0000 UTC]

I tried making the hair softer...but that made it look cheap and smudgy like the hair in my older fan-art...Then again, it's hard trying to get nice, smooth lines when you are drawing with a mouse. But thanks anyway
