Description This is that "something much more interesting" thing I said I was going to make based on what I learned from =nukeation 's Vue video tutorial - the raw results of which can be seen in my Procedural Vue terrain deviation.

Been wanting to illustrate a binary sunset scene for a long time. For the un-educated - a Binary system is where there's two stars or "suns" in the center of a solar system instead of one these "double stars" are surprisingly more common than single stars like our own Sun. Often both stars will be a similar size and colour/temperature, but to make this more interesting, we see a larger but cooler/dimmer red star accompanied by a brighter, hotter white one...The collective heat from two suns would probably make this planet very hot! But listening to science alone can really limit one's creativity - so I still included a civilisation, water and some really odd-looking foreign plants too for art's sake

Well as stated already, this started out as a rather basic Vue scene. I saved time by recycling the same terrain for the landscape that I made after watching the tutorial - I also was able to use some sci-fi building models I made last year too. All this put under a a different lighting/atmosphere setting provided a very different base for me to matte-paint over (this is one of the few deviations I have that I think could be passed off as being a matte-painting )

Artwork is made and copyrighted by me and therfore should not appear on any other site or gallery without permission from me

Dude, how righteous are you? Just when it looks like you did it all, you prove 'em dead wrong and come bustin' out with a fantastic masterclass picture. Barely anyone does it better than or quite like you when it comes to optimal realism, delivering experiences that just reach out to the audience and draw them in with surreal eye-candy. What amazes me is the brilliance of the concepts and ideas you explore, bringing lush beauty and dynamic settings right to our very computer screens straight from that hearty, limitless imagination of yours. This is particular is quite majestic, honing in on golden hues and shimmering lighting aspects to form a tranquil sunset featuring not one, but two suns befitting of pure flair.

Once again, you have conquered and triumphed. Way to go, man. 'd

lol @ Caption Falcon Oh I'll never "do it all" - as you said yourself, I'll always be coming up with something new, I still have ideas backed up from over a year ago - I do them in order of what I see fits at the time rather than in the order that I come up with them (wow, I have thought about this way too much )

I have long thought that surreal-ish landscapes were cool, I often will find a balance between what's surreal and what's scientifically accurate to do these, I like stuff that's weird, but believable to an extent

Sorry if my response dosn't make sense, I'm sick and it's making my mind go all slow-like but thanks for commenting

Nah, it all makes sense. And it is indeed reassuring that you have plenty of ideas to go by for the future. That's the sign of a promising artist, and you already have showcased some grand highlights of your long journey so far.

No problem though, it's always a pleasure dude.

Homework is easy when it's on a subject you find interesting though I've known that li'l slip of information for a few years already...I wanted to wait until I was better before I based a picture off it

That's absolutely beautiful. I can almost feel the heat literally warming up my face. The scene, to me, has a feeling of serenity, as well as mystery (because of the buildings and plants.) Once again, that's beautiful.

Chromattix In reply to Bombfishe [2009-06-11 03:06:52 +0000 UTC]

Thankyou, yeah I really wnated to make the viewer clearly imagine what it would be like to feel the heat from both suns, the warm colours were a wise choice I guess (I was almost going to have some blue and purple in the areas away from the suns) glad to hear it worked and a mix of serenity and mystery or the unusual is surprisingly rare in sci-fi scenes...but aliens have gotta relax too, so I wanted a nice vantage point away from the city

this is another beautiful scene! i am especially fond of those plants in the foreground - they look like they could talk. oh, sometimes i have a weird mind, donΒ΄t mind.
i just wonder if you need two different sun-protection cremes on such a planet!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to nathie [2009-06-11 01:44:31 +0000 UTC]

"Sometimes I have a weird mind, don't mind" - lol, it's hard for not to mind a wird one, I'd better say no more or we'll be stuck in an infinite loop Hmm, maybe thye could talk - I had another comment making a reference to Sesame Street characters anyway

Hmm, maybe not two different cream's, but you'll need to apply twice as much, twice as often or you'll get burned

Nah, I had to tell someone else that I don't do wallpaper packs...I know they'll increase my popularity and such here as well as give some people pretty wallpaper's, but neither of those is worth having my art stolen and mis-used like it used to before I made the full-view's smaller
