Description
This is that "something much more interesting" thing I said I was going to make based on what I learned from =nukeation 's Vue video tutorial - the raw results of which can be seen in my Procedural Vue terrain deviation.Been wanting to illustrate a binary sunset scene for a long time. For the un-educated - a Binary system is where there's two stars or "suns" in the center of a solar system instead of one
Well as stated already, this started out as a rather basic Vue scene. I saved time by recycling the same terrain for the landscape that I made after watching the tutorial - I also was able to use some sci-fi building models I made last year too. All this put under a a different lighting/atmosphere setting provided a very different base for me to matte-paint over (this is one of the few deviations I have that I think could be passed off as being a matte-painting
Artwork is made and copyrighted by me and therfore should not appear on any other site or gallery without permission from me

Lol, besides, if they grew up on this world, they'll be used to the heat. Though more likley it's a colony established and they would probably have a LOT of air conditioner's in those buildings

lol That's true. Or they're just stranded there since rescue ships melt before getting close enough. They had no choice but to adapt xD

Don't know how long it took you, or what program you used, but you've created an enjoyable piece. And while I enjoy the picture very much to the point of faving it, I'm much more intrigued by the existence of this '~The Worst Artists on dA club;' it promises laughs and I'm in the mood for them.

It took around 20 hours and the programs used were Photoshop, Vue and...oh wait - that was a rhetorical question glad you liked it enough to fave, if you wnat laughs - you could always browse the "newest" section of the fan-art galleries
Ouch, that was mean, especially since I did my fair share of awful fan-art at some point too thanks for faving though!

LoL, Excellent dis, sir. It's okay, we've all been there. As a writer, I remember the days back in high school when I had the 'audacity' to role-play my fav RPG characters in on-line clubs. Yahoo Clubs, it was; then Yahoo Groups... LoL, good times.... I never got as bad as the full-blown, independently written fanfic, though. But it makes people happy, so w/e.
See? I still got my laugh. It all works out.
And your welcome, btw. Maybe I'll go poking around the rest of your gallery. Once these fools in an on-line chat room I'm in stop playing fart noises, death screams, animal sounds, horn honks, and cricket chirps. But, avast! I have spoken too much already.
Love, peace, chicken grease,

Beautiful warm work The whole atmosphere is great. To me, it has a sort of prehistoric-in-the-future feel, if that makes sense. Like, prehistoric looking plants, but the city is more futuristic. The suns look great, too. The smaller one is so bright, and the reflections on the water are really cool.

Thankyou very much! I wante dnice warm colours here, I tried some blue in the sky for a more realistic colour scheme but it just killed the mood. Your'e not the first to say it represents both the past and future, I'm a fan of both time-zones actually and I'll often incoporate one or anothe rin some of my works, or in this case - both perhaps this is a primitive world of which a colony was established by visitors

Yeah, blue would kill the whole mood of it. It look nicer orange, like a really bright sunset.
Mmm, yes, it's like a distant planet somewhere where the landscape is like primitive earth, but with far more developed technology.

amazing great job! I thought you would put at least three but i guess that's too much hot! are you thinking about doing one with moons i would like to see that. but nice touch with the city and exotic plants.

I wouldn't be too surprised if one day I did make a scene with three suns, the landscape would have to be rather barren though, so when I find a way to make a dead scene interesting, I could do that (but even now, it's too sudden after this...I'll wait a long time on purpose ) And scenes with several moons will always be something I'll submit from time to time

In the long run it's WAY more profitable to be a portrait artist..people will always want themselves or relatives drawn, me - I havn't seen a paying commission all year, Since the year started I've only made 50 bucks on some minor anime stuff, and they weren't even submit-worthy

so you know, it would be called a Binary Star System.
no offense to you, just when i was reading the description i noticed you called them "double Stars"
not sure if you already knew this or not but i wanted to let you know hahaha not sure why.
anyway this is frakin AWESOME work man, i mean really awesome work.

Oh yeah, I knew that each pair on their own was a Binary Star, though lateley I've been hearing the term "double stars" a lot, often referring to talking about an entire night sky's worth of binaries (like saying "most of the stars in the sky that look like single stars are often double" etc )'
But just in case I didn't, good thing you said that anyway

have you heard about the possible earth like planet that was discovered not too long ago.
i think its called Geilse 51b or something like that.

Chromattix In reply to djomally [2009-06-20 05:08:53 +0000 UTC]
The "Geilse" part sounds familiar, I always forget the numbers and codes though if it's the one that's about 4 times the size of Earth and apparently colder than Earth overall (but still warm enough to have liquid water in some areas), then yep - I've heard if it
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
djomally In reply to Chromattix [2009-06-20 05:22:55 +0000 UTC]
i thinks its only about 2-3 time its size but yes they think it may have liquid water because of where it happens to be which is a distance equivalent to Earths distance from the sun.

djomally In reply to djomally [2009-06-20 02:01:30 +0000 UTC]
oh and forgot to say, it would depend on the distance if the planet was hot. with 2 stars the habitable zone would be farther away from the stars then our habitable zone. so if the world was far enough away it would more then likely be a lush planet like our own. hahaha sorry again man im just really into this kind of stuff and i tend to rant.

I know its all warm colors, but why does it look like it is really cold or will be very shortly...
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Chromattix In reply to talisyelwoc [2009-06-18 07:07:02 +0000 UTC]
Probably because the surrounding sky is very dark, plus the landscape is a bit desert-like, and they tend to get really cold at night since dry air dosn't retain heat as well as humid air

Thanks, I'm a fan of warm colours like this too, I resist the urge to abuse them in every artwork I make but this one called for it
in the past few months I've become loaded with various alien-plant concepts, I'll have to start releasing them as part of sci-fi scenes among my other stuff the first proper one of which I think would be Life on other planets , making this only the second

Wow..it's a very beautiful sight. Definitely a romantic sight if you are floating down the river on a row boat. ^^
I wonder having two suns in a solar system would increase the overall temperature of a planet.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Chromattix In reply to Aiyai [2009-06-14 09:09:42 +0000 UTC]
Thanks, it would be romantic, perhaps they don't have rowboats, but some futuristic high-speed ocean liner...but where's the fun in that?
Indeed having two suns would mean more heat. But in this case, each sun is smaller and dimmer than our own, so their collective heat would only sum up to our one ...Sun's come in various different sizes and temperatures

Thanks! it's pretty much impossible to get two suns in Vue, both were actually postworked in Even duplicating the sun-light would give you another directional light, but not another sun
