Description I had no clue as to where to submit this, so it ended up in scraps. This is something I've been working on for years - I don't remember exactly how many, it's at least five years, probably more. I began this not long after starting to write my stories for the first time. I'll admit I was inspired by Tolkien, but after a while it was for totally different reasons. It became difficult with names and stuff when Arhan and Arhan were two different names (A-rhan and Ar-han). I had a lot of sounds that I wrote with one letter and then ended with an -h, just because I found no other way to write it. So I made this. All sounds should be pronouncable and have their own symbol in the IPA system (International Phonetic Alphabet), but when I started with this, I didn't know about any IPA system. But I'm satisfied with it anyway. Originally this accompanied the Elvish Language (not Tolkien's, but mine), but after I learnt more about how languages are built up, the language is long gone. I haven't given it up yet, but it will have to wait. I do have some words - laidhan, which are elvish for "the first" and what they called themselves after discovering that they weren't the only peoples around.

The three last letters in the system are norwegian letters with their elvish equivalent - doesn't really exist in elvish (well, if we imagine that it actually exists) but it was made to make a friend of mine and I able to write in this language (that's what we did at school... *ehem*). The Q and W weren't intended to be a part of it, but I'd made some names with those, and now I can't imagine elvish without them. I will make those letters as well one day.

Side note:
The words in the lower left corner are the very start of this alphabeth, it was made during a boring school lesson and is the name of my main character, perhaps the only one that's been there through all my revising of the stories... Her name then was Sharja Ereva, so you can say the alphabeth was made for her... (Her name now is Shanouna Navanin - Shanouna being an elvish-sounding name but not really elvish, and Navanin is her surname which derives from the elvish word "navanu", secret. This was given to her by her parents or wizards or gods or whoever decided her name. As she grew up in a foster family (or really, a foster mother) far away from home, with no connections to elvish, she was called Shanni as to better fit in. Like it succeeded... She also took (and still uses sometimes) her foster mother's surname as well, Elleir. Just in case you wanted to know )

Ah! I cannot beleive I've never seen this! Very interesting, because I am making my own alphabet too ^^ It's more simple...But a charm to know you've done/you're doing the same.

Yay, another alphabet maker! I started to think I was the only one. I just love alphabets. Can I see yours when you're done with it?
I just wish I got the inspiration to come up with the two remaining letters... I guess I could just nick the Γ¦, ΓΈ or Γ₯ - as they don't really exist in elvish anyway. How come I never thought of that...
