Your skills are many, but all incredible Β I particularly love your beautiful wooden bowls, the amazing pottery, and all of your intarsia (a word I'd never heard before). Β Intarsia is (in my humble opinion) more beautiful than marquetry now that I've seen it.

thanks so much
from what I've read, marquetry developed from intarsia (which started out as a flat picture) as a way to stretch the cost and use of rare woods.Β It is attributed to 14th century Italian craftsmen although I've also heard it originated around Tarsis (ancient Anatolia- now Turkey) which wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Craft history can get really interesting and I'm happy that you know the history of something you do so well. Β I've only made one wooden piece. Β I had the chance to attend a workshop and did it in memory of my grandfathers who were both wood turners. Β I carved a 'lap harp'. Β Wonderful to do when you're in a workshop with all the tools. Β My normal hobbies are rather more 'indoors'.

It looks like a puzzle. So you can make toys like this.
I like it, especially different wood structure.
Did you use any varnish?

toys could be made like this, but these are glued down so you can hang them. I use a clear acrylic finish (krylon)
thanks!

I love the tri color and flow of the carving....Then again, I'm biased to wood art, it's so much more closer to the old ways, I adore it.
I HAVE to see Pan's Labryrinth....
