If I am not mistaken this has to be a Hemlock. Is it ? Their pine needles are so delicate like a lace. And they also tend to shed a darker shadow lending such an air of elegance and mystery.

That is actually a small patch of Douglas firs, almost all of our trees are Douglas firs.

Hey, maybe you are right and the guy that helped me was wrong! I do know that these are the underside in the middle that gets very little sun. These tend to be a lot weaker here, sometimes half as thick as the outside needles. I have to go out there today anyway, I will check the cones to make sure.

It is hard for me to tell really well from your shot. But yes the cones would be the best and quickest way to id them.
