Wow I think this is one of my longest sketchdumps yet. XDDD;;; Stuff from the beginning of the year plus the slam art. Didn't feel like typing on this one, so let me know if you're curious about something. More commentary on each can probably be found on my tumblr under the art or the ghostslam tags.There was some other art I wanted to include but didn't because they were more note-heavy and didn't really fit in well. [link] Here's another bonus...this is the non-animated version of the starry nights picture. The gif format make the colors really dark XDD;; I mean, it's still really dark but now you can see slightly more of the details.

MORE GHOSTSLAAAAAAM. Where did you come up with that name, anyway? I always envisioned it as you hectically scribbling art, then just SLAMMING it on the counter or something!
Aaaah this is such a cool set-- there aren't too many new concepts revealed, but it's got tons of fun scribbles (these poses oh god) and shows off some of your best design aesthetics. Sometimes your designs are just so.... JUST SO... aklgjdlagd. You have such skill when it comes to utilizing shapes and texture to show personality, and it makes me jealous haha. Very nice work here. 
Have you ever considered making the "random canine critter" a type of animal in your headworld? I can see them as being rare yet surprisingly humdrum animals. But they're too beautiful to discard-- augh those geometric manes. They're damn lovely. <3

Well, it's a play on/inspired by Artslam, which is a drawing challenge that has been going on in the summer for the last couple of years (they were originally at lj and then also have a tumblr ). The idea of artslam was to pick a theme and draw it for 30, 61, or 92 days straight. Buuuuut summer is usually a busy time for me family and vacationwise so I decided to start doing my own personal slam whenever I felt like it (hence, Ghostslam), and also use my own ruleset , since I might as well. XD

That's what I'm sort of working towards! The first random canine critter has some elements that I like, and so does the one farther down the page (this one) , so eventually I'd like to hammer down a design I like enough to put it in my headworld. One possibility for them is just to be a rare breed of canine kept in remote temples.

Ah thank you! I've never been on the up-and-up with art memes and challenges, so that clears up a whole lot. (I personally would be stressed as hell by something like that, heh)
Yeah, Shiva's quickly climbed up the ranks and is now #1 on my "fave Ghost-chars" list (Sy is #2, Torchwood #3 :3). Her design is just so cute, and SO MUCH more expressive than her initial one.
But hey, that sounds like a good plan! I imagined them as being hilariously mundane (I love really-cool-animal-that-inuniverse-is-everyday-stuff deals), but they'd make good temple guardians too! What if they acted like fu dogs, and always came in pairs? They have that same regal air about them. ;D

OHHHh you know what might be even better? *does some thinking outloud* Both designs are pretty similar, so what if they came in pairs and one was male and the other was female?? Then we would have some balancey-stuff going on too, hmmm. 8|a *scratches chin*

Indeed, a male/female pair is a must. Every angularly-maned-dog-thing needs a mate!
BUT OH. OH OH. OH. I just got an idea! This totally nixes my "regular animal" idea but see if you can follow along:
...what if they were inter-plane guardians? Perhaps they go to wealthy people who regularly, or at least have the ability to, pass between the different planes. When the owner goes, the female dog holds a voodoo doll resembling him/her (akin to the female fu dog holding its pup). As long as the dog has the doll, the owner will be protected on the "other side"!
I'm not 100% familiar with the laws of your world's planes, but AAH this popped into my head and it's so cool. Sorry if it's a silly idea. But. I'm on an idea fix tonight. :U
