Description I think this is one of the most surreal landscapes I have ever walked through, it was last Saturday after a large ice/snow storm hit Missouri. I went to this area at night with a full moon overhead with clear skies. Everything was covered with fresh snow. Every little branch and detail of the forest was covered so delicately with snow that it looked like it took someone a 100 years to paint each and every little detail. With the full moon overhead and the reflection of the bright snow it seemed almost as if it was daytime on some far out alien planet.

Details:
- Canon 5D
- 124 second exposure at f5.6
- I used a Canon 24mm TS-E shift lense and had the lense tilted a couple of degrees to blur out the top of the trees to give a 3D look/feel

I can imagine why you think of this as surreal, because it does look surreal. But beautifully surreal.
Love the contrast between the white and black.

That storm left everything looking like it was dipped in crystal. This is a beautiful shot. I wish I had gotten out into the country for some pictures before it all got nastied up. But we'll see how my one roll of b&w turns out.

Great shot!

Thank you, It was a pretty storm but as you said it got "Nasty" with all the ice damage and the roads were difficult to navigate.

I hope your B&W's turn out nice, thanks for the comment

Yeah I saw stalled cars on the interstate that got trapped by snow plow piles.

You're welcome and thanks!

this is so crazy that you posted this... when I was walking through this landscape at night looking for a good place to photograph I kept thinking on how the landscape reminded me of a book I read while I was in grade school. I could remember the story line and the cover of the book but I could not remember the title of the book, it was one of those things that drive your mind crazy trying to remember. I even tried explaining it to my girlfriend when I got back but she could not remember the title either. And now you just happened to mention the title "the lion the witch and the wardrobe" which was the same book I was trying to remember while I was taking this photo, that's crazy!

Thanks, now I know the title of that book!

It looks almost like a black and white. But for me the darkening gradient is too much. But just my personal opinion. nice photos u've uploaded recently, all of em ;]

Is it your 24mm that provides this vignetting on the bottom?
Otherwise the atmosphere is tantalizing. Thanks for the picture.

Considering it was only lit by the moon, that is an excellent shot! And it's really pretty too. Then I read the description and I felt all warm and fuzzy inside Great work!
