edit - Alternate version: Don't judge a movie by its book as requested by =Aquarior .edit - Changed the font.
I read that sentence into a Reader's Digest and I thought it would make a nice stamp.
Then I discovered that somebody had already done a similar stamp here , but I decided to submit this one anyway.

That would suck. :C But as the original author, I think you'd have a say in the adaptation.

i sure hope so <_> im not sure how that works and all, but im pretty positive that the ones making the film are going to do all they can to shape the story the way they want it to work, which makes me scared to think if anyone ever proposed that to me <.<

Eh, as long as you realize the movie story might be different from the book story and not to equate one with the other, I think that's fine.

To any book that has been adapted as a movie. Twilight fits the criteria.

Yes, the movie was indeed excellent! I still have one of the original VHS tapes of it! Its just.... after reading the book by Michael Crichton, the movie just didn't do it justice. n.n;

Well, the special effects at times kinda sucked, especially with the velociraptors. But then again, I was absolutely obsessed with dinasaurs when I was really little, and I think it has partially stuck with me But now I'll definitely have to read the book!

lol, I was obsessed until I was maybe.... 7 or so... I dunno. But I knew all of the dinosaurs names and everything. And I had a bunch of plastic dinosaurs. I had a plastic t-rex that I was scared of at night so I put it out in the hallway before I went to sleep lol

So true! I was like that with the harry potter film. My family hadn't read the books and they loved the films...they just made me cringe. I hate when people say Harry Potter is crap, but have only seen the film and never read the books...>.<
Movies often ruin books, though sometimes they can be good movies in their own right.
I think the Narnia films did a very good job though. Voyage Of The Dawn Treader is the ONLY film that I have ever thought was actually better than the book, and where adding things not in the book actually improved it...
Wow I am rambling way too much ;_:

Book has nothing to do with the movie.I have realised it a long time ago.And they dont have to be simular.Movie is the director`s vision mostly. And it is completely okey to be different from each other. But the book is the original.

Usually, yes.
I hate to see the movie first most of the time, because in my opinion it's usually worse than the book (except for the princess bride, both the movie and the book were very well done).

Twilight for example. I read the books and saw the films. Well, the books are not amazing, but they're okay. I liked them. But the films... They're HORRIBLE! If you read and saw twilight you know what I mean. And if you did you can hate it. But NOT if you just saw the films. It's annoying how people hate twilight without knowing it xD

OH MY GOD. THE CIRQUE DU FREAK MOVIE.
It's named the Vampire's assistant, which is the second book, but it's based off of the first three books (or at least that's what they say)?
They added in characters and took out a main character and changed the gender of another one and made all the characters look mentally disabled and they ruined Evra.
The Evra part really gets me.
I couldn't even get through the whole movie. I got about thirty minutes into it but got a nasty headache and tears were streaming down my cheeks. So I stopped it. And almost vomited. .-.
