Ohhh dear I went and finished it all in one go. He's just so fluffy and glowy. ;n;I hope you guys like this; I had a lot of fun playing with the glow and the shadows and am quite pleased with the final outcome. It's not what I had imagined originally but I think it's done. Currently thinking about naming the glowy pup Djinn. Thoughts? Suggestions?
EDIT:
Ok for now I'mma call him Jin. Apparently that means gold in Chinese but heck if I know for sure.

This is beautiful. Honestly you could name the character anything you want, and just to make it fit, add a back story to why he was given a name from another culture or region of the world. It just makes it more intriguing

What do you think of the name Jin-zan, with Jin for short? I'm told it means "golden" and "providing support."

I really like that! Especially the "providing support" meaning. Would it be pronounced with a space? Or would it be together "Jinzin" (sounds like "jenzen") I think it sounds cool that way.
I've been wanting to make a foo dog/shi character. I love them!
I looked it up breifly, so:
Chinese guardian lions = Shishi
Japanese = Komainu
Okinawan = Shisa -> These look more fox-like

Just absolutely stunning! Gosh I love foo dog characters everyone always makes them look so good. Djinn is a good name, though isn't it related to Arabian mythos? I'm not sure if it has a presence in China, but he certainly doesn't need to have a Chinese name of course.

Yeah I think Djinn does indeed have an Arabic root, making it maybe not the best fit. I agree it doesn't have to be a Chinese name necessarily but I should probably either go with a Chinese one or an interesting-sounding English one rather than a different culture. Hnnnnng names are hard. @_@

Names are the worst for me, some of my characters have recycled names from extremely old characters of mine! Mostly cause I liked those names before and wanted to bring them back. There are a lot of Chinese names to look for, and Foo dogs are present in other Asian cultures! So his name can even be Japanese, Korean, etc.

I'm definitely improving which has been very encouraging lately. As long as I can keep practicing I think I can continue to learn; I'm pretty pumped to see how far I can take it. It makes me very happy that you like it!

and also, I don't think you should name him djinn because a djinn is a genie. I mean is he like a genie dog or something? even if he is, that shouldn't be his name because that's the species.

Eeee I LOVE how this came out!! I love the yellow and green foreplay, especially the fun yellow lighting on the bamboo and the statue. The statue looks AWESOME too. I love his pretty face! And the little glowy dude is ADORABLE. I love his curly mane and his scaly yellow feet and his adorable sleeping face! Amazing job!
And Djinn is an ADORABLE name. It's got a super fun and exotic feel to it!

Djinn /is/ a cute name; I'm just not sure it's quite right for this guy. It's got Arabic origins and fu dogs are pretty much stricty south east asian I think so that might not work. :/
