Description
4th in my Tulips series. Cryla acrylics on stretched canvas, painted with a pallet knife. 8x8 inches. The flowers are painted in "Lemon Yellow". Photo taken in strong sunlight to bring out the impasto texture.I think I'm improving - let me know what you think!

Hi - I don't use any thickeners - just neat acrylic. Β I usually use heavy body acrylics like Daler-Rowney Cryla or Liquitex Heavy Body, straight out of the tube, with no water added.
Thanks for your comments!

Ohh! That's right, there's heavy body acrylics. I was saying because till now I only knew that for a thicker paint you have to use something. Well, thank you anyways! And sorry for the bad english, it's not my original languageΒ Β

Came here through your interview in Behind The Easel! Thanks for sharing the insights into your life.
I love this piece! It has a very Van Gogh feel to it...
And I absolutely love how your kids inspired you and you approached art later in life. I've just recently reached the conclusion that I don't want to do realistic art... more feel expressive things...

beautiful. I love texurized paintings. Do you have any hints for me, to make one of my paintings more texurized, i use a lot of paint, basically but i love the affect you did here.

Thank you! Well, I use a lot of paint, and painting knives, and be careful not to smooth it out too much. I try to leave deep imprints in the paint with the knife.

Okay, cool. Thanks for the advice. My art class doesnt teach texure, and i always try to do it. It turns out well, but i love the effect you did with the flowers! So, thank you!
