Thanks for stopping by. The original prototype was sculpted in grey Sculpey Premo and the final casting was executed in urethane resin.

wow, thats sick dude, but how the hell did you get the pillar sculpted so clean, cause this is before it was tempered right? I sand stuff down afterwards, but however you went about this, well, its a beautifull sculpt. kudos.

The pillar was cast in urethane resin prior to the sculpting of the gargoyle. I drilled holes in the pillar. I then inserted the armature wire of the creature, which acted as a custom-fitted base to sculpt around. Not only do you have a perfect fit, but once you bake the Sculpey Premo creature, the break is a clean one: just snip the armature wire and you're ready for the moldmaking process.
